We went to imaginosity today with our 7 year old daughter. She had a wonderful time. She's really big on role playing and the place is kitted out perfectly for it (shop, cafe, news reader, hospital, builders, post office). The 2 hours flew by.

Our hotel is in central Dublin. We caught the tram from St Stephen's Green, which took about 20 mins and then the walj on the other side was less than 10 minutes. A lot of reviews talk about it being busy so we got there for 9.30am. It was quite quiet and had a really pleasant atmosphere.

Not sure how much I would call that a museum. I think this a good kids cafe / play world. Lots of toy world setups: supermarket, construction site, wooden railways, etc... Your toddler will be busy for the whole stay. Unfortunately the time there is limited and you need to reserve well in advance.

Wasnt what we expected. We thought it would be way more fun. Some exhibits were old/worn. The top floor had a terace that wasnt open so we only saw 2 floors. Also they dont tell you before you arrive but theres no access for buggies/prams you have to borrow a sling or take the carseat if you can carry it which really annoyed me as my 9 week old was asleep. My 3 year old kind of liked it but wasnt pushed about staying or going. Also the wheelchair acces is around the back from the main steps entrance theres no ramp just an elevator. When we arrived they kept us all waiting for our booked time slot for ages with the rest of the group and loads of noisy children waiting to get going. Overall wouldnt return. Disappointed

We made a trip across the country to visit imaginocity. I probably had too high expectations and thats why left disapointed. Two hours are not enough. My two kids enjoyed it over all though it was frustrating that the stations were a mess. Members of staff were trying to clean it up a bit but this had little effect. Costumes were thrown on the floor, bits missing in every station. Itd make more sence to have 15 minutes gaps between the sessions for the staff to bring the stations in order.
Also dress your child(ren) in something bright, as there are so many children running all directions i kept losing mine.
Would love to come back to a less caotic and messy version of imaginocity.

Hi Tatiana,
During the weekends and school holidays public access to the building is for 2 hour sessions. This is due to the building having a max capacity of 160 people which is set down by the fire authority. If we were to allow people to stay as long as they wished there would be very little availability to visitors at busy times. Imaginosity is a not for profit registered charity, so this is purely an access strategy. Before visitors enter for their booked session we need to ensure the floors are reset, if this wasn't the case for you when you visited please email me directly and I can investigate this further (info@imaginosity.ie). We would love to see you again but please call us and we can advise you of the quieter times to visit.

We arrived at Imaginosity on spec, not realising about the two hour shifts, but the girl on the entrance desk was more than accommodating and gave us a reduced rate to reflect the remaining time available. The kids (5 and 8 years old) really enjoyed it. Some exhibits are for the younger kids but they found more than enough to occupy them for the hour and a half we had. A cafe is available but we found ourselves watching/supervising the kids for the entire visit. Nothing wrong with this as there is more worth in watching them enjoy themselves than in drinking a cappuccino. Free parking was availble unde the building for the two hours required. Would recommend.
