Tucked away at the back of Prospect Avenue its easy to miss the turn off coming out from the city so do concentrate or you will be scooting around the block like I had to do !. Last time I was here was by shanks mare in about 1978 and it has not changed one bit since that visit. At that time I made a mental note to visit after seeing "Quackser Fortune has a cousin in the Bronx", which had a scene shot in the bar. Anyway this visit was a prelude to the tour next door at the Glasnevin Cemetery, conveniently located just a step away through the gates . We started with an entree of Guiness which was really rich with a nice creamy head. An excellent starter and a great pint all in one ! Next was the coddle which was one of the best I have ever eaten, and prepared specially for moi ( and about 30 other bods) by Ciaran Kavanagh himself. This pub is a real treat and has been in the Kavanagh family since forever at least. You can feel the history and is well worth a visit. Seek it out !

No bad words for this hidden treasure behind the graveyard.
We enjoyed some cold beers And lunch at this lovely managed pub.

All food was amazing, make sure you try the homemade pies, which are delicious.

To make things even better, you can have lunch with a beer and share a cake for only €10 per person!

Travel to Ireland every year in the Dec-Jan time frame. I always go to Kavanagh's on each trip for a pint or two and a great meal - always the coddle. None better in Ireland. Ciaran (classically trained chef) and his sister Ann will ensure you enjoy the best of Ireland with their hospitality, exceptional food, and authentic pub atmosphere. As the 7th generation proprietors of the pub, the tradition of Irish pubs is ingrained in them. You must go there even if it's your only stop in Dublin.

A Pub/Restaurant with history, charm, unforced friendliness and the best Coddle you’ll find in all of Ireland. In 7 trips to Ireland, we ALWAYS make our way to Kavanagh’s!
