Tucked away at the back of Prospect Avenue its easy to miss the turn off coming out from the city so do concentrate or you will be scooting around the block like I had to do !. Last time I was here was by shanks mare in about 1978 and it has not changed one bit since that visit. At that time I made a mental note to visit after seeing "Quackser Fortune has a cousin in the Bronx", which had a scene shot in the bar. Anyway this visit was a prelude to the tour next door at the Glasnevin Cemetery, conveniently located just a step away through the gates . We started with an entree of Guiness which was really rich with a nice creamy head. An excellent starter and a great pint all in one ! Next was the coddle which was one of the best I have ever eaten, and prepared specially for moi ( and about 30 other bods) by Ciaran Kavanagh himself. This pub is a real treat and has been in the Kavanagh family since forever at least. You can feel the history and is well worth a visit. Seek it out !
