Description: Step out of the bustling cobblestone streets of Temple Bar and down the stairs to Tomahawk Steakhouse where beautiful windows allow in light from street level. This is an intimate and unique dining setting – and our steaks are the star of the show. We have spent months researching where to source the best steaks from around the world and the results of that exploration is there is no better beef than Irish and we are proud to say that we serve only the market-best at Tomahawk. Tomahawk has 80 delightful seats for you and your party to choose from. We have comfy corners matched with matte timber tables adorned with leather seats, where diners can enjoy their delicious meals under the ambient street lighting that pours in from above. Or you can choose to perch comfortably along the gorgeous timber dining bar set around our open kitchen and watch the theatre of a professional kitchen at work in front of you.

I went here with a view friends the Saturday after it opened. We were greeted and taken straight to our table. Service was relaxed. Maybe it took a little long to take out order but not overly so. Steaks were brought out to help us decide. The eponymous Tomahawk steak really did look amazing but we all went for TBones or striploins.

Steaks were well seasoned and cooked to perfection. Mine looked overdone but once cut open it was obvious that is was medium rare. The waiter recommended the bacon mash and the asparagus as sides which were great. I opted for parmesan fries which weren't great. A massive bowl of soggy chips with some grated parmesan on top. Not very appetising. Less chips properly cooked would have been better. But it's early days as they have just opened so I will reserve judgement until I come back.

Desert was whiskey. Good selection of Irish whiskeys on the menu. We tried to get to the bottom of the debate on whether Green Spot or Yellow Spot are superior. We gave it a good go but failed. Will have to try again.

In summary, perfect steaks perfectly cooked. It's amazing that it's so unusual to find this in an Irish restaurant.

We were very happy with the food and service at Tomahawk last Friday 29th September. Very stylish venue in Temple Bar. A nice touch, that so many restaurants get wrong is the 'water question'. Instead of having to ask for a jug of water and then having to answer the still/sparkling/tap question we were automatically given two glasses (tap we presume) which were then topped up. Also we got some beautiful sourdough bread and butter to accompany our non-soup starter, another nice touch. Our waitress brought us over a complementary asparagus side that someone else had ordered by mistake (nice!). Only minor complaint would be that my friend was sitting right by the door with a draught which made the experience less comfortable for him. I would definitely go back.

Friend and myself went here with expectations after checking the showcase. Meet quality is good , but the grillmaster should be present at the grill if open fire is the concept. We observed burned meet sections which were removed before serving??! As a Steakhouse, which want's to play in the upper league, service personal should be instructed into basics such as "never go empty handed"!! to have the dishes in front of you for 20 minutes after the last nip and watching the service passing by with empty hands , was just not fair....not a big side fan but shouldn' parmesan fries be crusty...instead of just having the parmesan grated over the fries?? Restaurant itself has a atmosphere but it has to find it's style and feeling for details(salt shaker from the market on the table)...Our server in general was very nice . As others already said, sure it's just teething problems that will be sorted after a while.

Tomahawk only opened a few weeks ago so minor inconsistencies could be expected. Don’t get me wrong- this is a well laid out high end casual restaurant specialising in steaks and they deliver superbly. A good choice of staters available (but €14 for three small scallops is a bit steep). Mains provides the expected choice of fillets to T-Bone (€38) through to he signature Tomahawk for two (€80). Sides well well priced at €5 and there’s enough for two in a single portion. Starters and mains expertly presented and food was cooked perfectly. If I have a (very) small grumble it was the service - which appeared a bit hap hazard. It was 20 minutes before we had been offered a drink and then, like busses, two servers arrived within 2 minutes. We also found that different servers would check on us and deliver our food. Also took a while to get the check but we where in no hurry. Meal for two came to €150 with tip so it’s not cheap but it’s a wonderful spot that’s sure to get better. I’m already looking forward to a return visit and soon. If it’s not on your list it should be. But book in advance so your not disappointed. We sat at 5:30pm and it was quite full.

Myself and girlfriend went here soon after opening it's doors. Food is amazing , but the service wasn't great - some theething problems . Asked for a recommendation between two starters and the server just didn't know the menu at all. Got lobster brioche rolls and rissotto to start - both very nice. For main we got a tomahawk for 2 but waited an hour for it- thankfully worth the wait , but still a long wait . Sides of fried onions and parmesan fries were both very nice . Shared a dessert of caramel choc gnache that was also pretty nice . Food is a little pricey , but not extortionate for the quality of food. Restaurant itself is lovely , nice atmosphere . Our server in general was very nice , but just kept forgetting things like to bring a menu after we asked, forgetting the bill after we asked and not really knowing the menu . I'm sure it's just teething problems that will be sorted after a bit of time . Most importantly, food was absolutely top notch and will definitely be back .
