I looked to book Dax as a surprise for my wife's special birthday. I booked well in advance using their online system. I was contacted by Dax within 24 hrs offering me two different sittings for the Friday night. I confirmed for the later sitting but out of curiosity asked if there we better times available for the Thursday night, however only the same sittings were available.
When I emailed to double check my booking was ok a week in advance. They informed me they had completely sold out the restaurant for both nights. I was surprised and disappointed that at no point was I contacted to confirm my booking and even if there was some confusion you would think it is common courtesy to confirm with me before selling the table?
The best they could offer me was the waiting list! as if I should be happy with that even though people had booked after me. Imagine it could have been very embarrassing if I had shown up on the Friday night for dinner as I had confirmed. The only saving grace is that I did email, so I could try and find alternative restaurant.
As they work on a first come, first serviced basis, I would think the least they could do is honour my reservation which they point blankly refused to do. The food could be excellent? i don't know! The one thing I do know is the customer service is poor. I have never experienced treatment like this. I do appreciate, they cant hold tables on the off chance as they are a business and need to make money but it takes 2 minutes to ask a customer to confirm a booking if they are unsure.
It is obvious that the good times are back again where a restaurant can pick and choose their customers.
