Went here for my mother's Birthday on a Friday and despite us being a walk-in with no booking we managed to get a private table in a semi-enclosed area, which was the perfect intimate setting. The restaurant was very rustic and romantic.

The menu was good, but not many choices for veggies and the food was a little on the pricey side, although it was great quality so didn't feel over-charged.

The crowd were mainly 50+ but it still had a vibrant atmosphere. Would recommend for a date night or a small family get together.

Goats cheese salad was a delicious starter.

The food is full of flavour and good quality. I had free range chicken, while my companions had the beef, which was tender and falling off the bone. The pre-theatre menu is great value.

Based on the location I thought this might be "touristy" but it came highly recommended so we tried it. The decor is so quaint and the food is divine. Some of the best food I've had. The prices are fair for what you get and a really nice wine list.
We met the owner Gina who was a delight. I wish I had time to go back for a second time!

The restaurant os in the city centre and looking promissing. But that's it. the food wasn't good, a kind of fish risotto which almost seemed a creme brulee. The Wine Was not good, it had Wine deposit. Bad choice!

Sorry you did not enjoy your experience with us, the smoked haddock risotto proved very popular that day!

Restaurant and wine bar it says outside "Hugo's Wine Bar" (see picture) but you need a booked table and food before you can get a glass of wine. In an almost empty room, the waitress (?) told us in no uncertain terms and not very politely that if all we wanted was a drink we should go elsewhere.
But I am grateful to her - because less than a minutes' walk, turn right at the traffic lights into Ely Place and I found Ely's Wine Bar - which is a wine bar and a restaurant and sells a huge wonderful range of wine by the glass. Oh the staff are lovely as well.

On a busy weekend evening the manger kindly explained that we are indeed a restaurant and wine bar but, unfortunately, all tables were booked for dinner on that particular evening, which is usually the norm on Fridays and Saturdays. We do not have a sit down bar and, as is often the case, direct people to a local wine bar, as mentioned in review.
