Excellent hotel located by Loch Eske, peaceful and in the heart of the country. Excellent service & food and dog-friendly. Our second visit and we will be back. The dog friendly rooms are chalet attached to the hotel overlooking the lake with their own balconies and plenty of woodland around to bring the dogs for a walk.

When we arrived at the hotel we were met by a lovely receptionist who when taking our name told us we had been upgraded to the Penthouse Suite. Having never occupied such a suite before we didn't know what to expect. Julie led us up to the 3rd floor and when she opened the door of the Penthouse we couldn't believe our eyes. It was massive and so luxurious. Everything about it was way beyond our expectations. From a 6th bed, with a area, like a walk in closet to the adjoining bathroom with a double bath with Jacuzzi, twin hand basins, separate shower, bidet, toilet and mirror with lights around it. The sittingroom which was twice the size of our own at home had a bar off it where if we had family with us we could have entertained them there. The food was to die for.The breakfast had all sorts of meats, pancakes that were made to our liking there and then. We like our porridge but I have never tasted such delicious porridge before not even when I make it at home myself. The lamb which I had for my dinner was pink and succulent and my husband who went for the duck stated his was just as delicious. And as we were so full we didn't order any dessert which was really unusual for us. In all we had the most wonderful time and we will definitely be returning again and again.

I stayed here with my boyfriend as a wee treat and it most definitely was that! We stayed in one of the Lake View Suites which as the name suggests has a little veranda outside the room with the most amazing view of Lough Eske.
We dined in the restaurant and the food was of such a high quality. I can highly recommend the Hake and the Sirloin of Beef and there was a Chocolate dessert which I can't remember the name of but it was amazing!! All of the staff from front of house, restaurant to bar could not of been more attentive or friendly.
All in all we had the most fabulous stay and will look forward to going back!

Room tip: Lake View Suites are Amazing!

My husband and I have returned from our second most enjoyable stay at this amazing hotel located in the tranquil setting of L ough Eske where two graceful swans glide along.
We were offered the luxurious and spacious Premium Suite which was a dream come true especially when celebrating a birthday treat.Right from the moment you enter Harvey's Hotel it exhuberates an air of warmth and friendliness displayed by the welcoming Reception staff. Our concierge Ryan was a delight as he painstakingly showed us around our suite explaining all our room features such as the jet jacuzzi.
Breakfast and our fine dining experience was very pleasant with attentive staff and delicious food.
It's the added extras of birthday chocolates and a welcome back letter that make this hotel exceptional. This personal touch made our stay all the more memorable. We can't wait to return. We both agree this is our favourite hotel as it ticks every box to perfection.

Room tip: De lux and executive suites very spacious

My husband and myself have been staying in numerous County Hotels around Ireland this past year and booked a three night stay at Harvey's point ,some weeks in advance . We specifically requested a lakeshore suite as we wanted to be able to sit outside and enjoy the view . Everything was simply perfect ! The weather, unexpected for March, was fantastic and being able to sit outside on our terrace in warm sunshine ( which is what we had hoped for ) was blissful . The hotel is unpretentious and somewhat European in its decor. It's not a big sprawling hotel with a spa and pool area , nor is it trying to be something it isn't. That's part of its attraction . There is no Brash furniture or loud furnishings , no Staged furnishings . This is a hotel with a soul at its centre . That centre is "Isobel's Room " , a quirky square room filled with paintings by the same artist and a fireplace and a room you go through en route to the beautifully appointed Restaurant with its huge picture windows looking onto the lake . Breakfast, which is excellent , here in morning sunshine was just beautiful. On learning the history of the hotel, we loved it even more, as Isobel's room is actually the original cottage where the hotel began and all the paintings were done by the owners mother ! The Bedrooms are huge, food and service are excellent . Dinner in the restaurant was very good with plenty of choice . The staff were all so lovely and again not pretentious or OTT , just lovely friendly people . Our thanks to the restaurant Manager who on Sunday night when the Restaurant is closed, opened a section of the restaurant so we could eat our bar food in a quieter area as there was music in the bar and it was busy .He also kindly took the time ( after a very long working day which still wasn't over ) to give us a history of the hotel and spoke with huge enthusiasm . This is what makes Harvey's Point special . The owners and staff .
The hotel is meticulous clean and has the most stunning views with its lakeshore setting. The layout is slightly quirky and it's obvious that additions have been made over the years . There was some building work going on and on arrival on the Friday afternoon we were a tad put off by the noise coming from the construction work when we opened our door to enjoy the view from the terrace . However, we appreciated that the hotel is continually striving to make improvements and we both agreed that the current bar is too dark and does not make the most of the views or light and this current extension will change that . The quiet "reading Room " with its lakeshore views is currently under-utilised and will now house a smaller bar area and no doubt be a perfect place to sit and enjoy a G N T or afternoon tea in a perfect setting . There are numerous interesting and very lovely walks and strolls in the vicinity and around Lough Eske which we did and thoroughly enjoyed . On recommendations from the lovely concierge ( can't remember her name ) from Kerry, we headed off on a glorious sunny Saturday afternoon, after our morning 2.5 hour walk ,to visit Slieve League , about 30 k away . Wow... we were literally blown away by the incredible views . This was better than the cliffs of Moher and less commercialised with a stone pathway of steps up from the main viewing point to what is one of the most beautiful viewing areas in Ireland . We had hiking boots which are definitely advisable if you are going to make the climb up from the main viewing point . It was late afternoon and the light was fading but with the right footwear and weather conditions the trek across the cliff top ( a stone pathway is currently under construction) is spectacular .NOTE do not park at the first car park you come to with a gate, the gate opens and you can drive up to the other car park at the top of the cliffs thus saving yourself quite a long walk .
There are also beautiful walks on Rossnowlagh and Murvagh beaches and a stop off for food at Smugglers Creek was very enjoyable if a little crowded on a Sunday .
Harvey's Point Hotel is definitely one of the best hotels in Ireland and certainly deserves the rewards and accolades it has recently received. Donegal is stunning and has won my heart after a long long time away .
