The very helpful lady at front of house got us a very last minute table..very kind

We had a mix of early bird and a lá carte. Good tasty food, decent portions and a good choice. The desserts were head and shoulders above the mains though and Really were outstanding... I had a winter panacotta - lovely creamy wobbly panacotta with nutmeg, cranberry and orange... Absolutely Christmasy flavours but yet light and delicate.. Fab

We had a very nice meal here last night. Goats cheese ravioli starter followed by duck. All very tasty and the restaurant on a very chilly Dec night was very comfortable and nice and warm. The baked Banana and walnut cheesecake was delish!!!

We were recommended this restaurant by staff at another restaurant when we couldn't get in! I'm so glad we chose Star Anise instead. The welcome was warm and the food didn't disappoint, the hostess made lots of fuss of our birthday guest and I can highly recommend the Irish steak. I loved the ambience and it looked like all the other diners were having a great time too. A great place for pre-theatre dinner!

This is a real gem of a restaurant, strongly french is style, with a short menu but always impeccably cooked and presented. Excellent value - especially on the Early Bird menu. It's tiny, so you may need to book in advance and it may not be the place for that hyper-confidential chat as the tables are quite close. However, it has a great atmosphere, excellent service and with some really strong favourites amongst the menu dishes (pork terrine, duck confit, a clever and tasty olive-and-humus selection, ... )
It's the default setting for an excellent pre-theatre meal.
