We were recommended this restaurant by staff at another restaurant when we couldn't get in! I'm so glad we chose Star Anise instead. The welcome was warm and the food didn't disappoint, the hostess made lots of fuss of our birthday guest and I can highly recommend the Irish steak. I loved the ambience and it looked like all the other diners were having a great time too. A great place for pre-theatre dinner!

This is a real gem of a restaurant, strongly french is style, with a short menu but always impeccably cooked and presented. Excellent value - especially on the Early Bird menu. It's tiny, so you may need to book in advance and it may not be the place for that hyper-confidential chat as the tables are quite close. However, it has a great atmosphere, excellent service and with some really strong favourites amongst the menu dishes (pork terrine, duck confit, a clever and tasty olive-and-humus selection, ... )
It's the default setting for an excellent pre-theatre meal.

I was hosting work colleagues from all over the world and this place did not let us down. Small, quaint and lovely atmosphere. Amazing vegetarian selection and staff were fantastic. Also great value for money.

Cork is a great foodie place. So many amazing restaurants, good food choice, and great service. This is NOT one of them.

Lukewarm food. Poor choice. Disinterested waitress and a nice touch at the end - trying to charge for more drinks than we had. Really?!?!? Corrected immediately at our table which indicated to me that perhaps it was not an error!!!!!

A few of us from work decided to eat here this week. The food was poor, tepid, presented with little or no imagination. Way over priced for the low level food served.

A place to avoid at all costs...........way too many good restaurants in Cork to tolerate this........

Will NEVER be back.........
