Of the 3 B & Bs we stayed in on our trip to Ireland, Scotland and England (all in the same price range) I'd have to rate Audley House in 3rd place. Not that it was bad. The food was excellent, the host friendly and helpful, the room clean. But the room was cramped, with very little closet/dresser space and Brendan's somewhat studied shtick (kind of an Irish version of Basil Fawlty) can get tiresome. As we've learned from staying at other B&Bs, it's possible for a B&B to be better organized and more "professionally" run without sacrificing charm, freindliness or informality. Would we stay here again? We'd probably try out another place, but wouldn't be put out to land back at Audley House.

Walked in off the street while on a tour of Ireland with two female friends. We were offered a triple room, with three single beds, which was shown to us before we agreed to take it. The room was very small, not large enough for the three of us to open our suitcases on the floor without having to step over them. The floor was very sloped and I felt like I was sleeping downhill. The room was very clean. We stated two nights. Parking in the front was VERY tight with our rental VW Passat.

I was trying to plug in my laptop in the outlet beside one of the beds and the bedside table, tippy at best because of the severe slope in the floor, fell on top of me and landed on my foot, which immediately started swelling. Got some ice from Brendan but my toe is still black and purple 5 days later. Several of the outlets did not work at all. The TV did not work as the batteries on the remote were dead, but we did not ask for any new ones as we were not into watching TV anyway. We told Brendan about it as we were checking out and he would have replaced them had we asked sooner.

Breakfast was good but slow to arrive. Brendan was friendly and helpful with suggestions for where to eat. He accepted payment in cash or Visa. Wireless internet did not work in our room but did work in the lounge.

The quality of the accomodation, the location, just a short walk to the city centre,
very close to great restaurants(ask Brendan) and
the hospitality of Brendan and Patty made this trip very pleasant.
l would highly recommend this B+B, which very certainly surpassed my expectations

We did not book this hotel room direct but a neighbouring one which resulted in being over booked but we were assured that the 'audley house' had a room for us. When we arrived we were told that 'quiet literally' two mins before we arrived there had been a flood in a our room. After about an hour and a half of apparently ringing 15 other B&B's it was discovered there was an error made and there was a room available in the audley.

Room was clean, and while i wouldnt normally complain about the size of a room, it was quiet small, we did pay €90 for it, which I would regard as a hotel price and certainly not accomodating the new 9% vat rate.

Next morning, before we could sit down for breakfast, he stressed to us that he wanted payment in cash, which we gladly did on checkout. However all his pleasantries disappeared once he discovered that we had paid a deposit to the original B&B, and was quiet rude grunting at us to leave our keys behind.( I cant stress the personality change enough here)

As we did not get a receipt we were worried as the other B&B had our credit card details so we decided to head into the other B&B and let them know we had paid the audley the balance due. She explained that the arrangement was that she would take payment for the room from our credit card, the owner of the audley was aware of this arrangement. Apparently they have done this a number of times before where one or the other was over booked.

So off we went to get our money back from the audley. Which we duly got back in an even more unfriendly way, no apologies, nothing.

from the min we arrived we were bullshitted around the place, which we had almost forgiven however with the overcharging incident and the rudeness that followed its hard to think that the overcharging was not deliberate and having read some of the other reviews I am almost certain it was!

My friends and I travelled to Cork on the April Bank Holiday, to avoid all the hype of the Royal wedding... Audley House was a short 15-20 minute taxi journey from the airport. When we arrived, Brendon was very attentive and very sweetly had the wedding on the TV, thinking we wouldn't want to miss it - and we're actually very glad he did it... we were glued to the screen! Even though we weren't there until gone 11, he offered us something to eat and drink and was constantly checking on us to make sure we were okay. The rooms were fine, we had everything we needed, plenty of storage and they were very clean. I especially liked that the house had several little stairways that took you to individual rooms, it made the hotel seem very quiet as everybody was spread out. The breakfasts were plentiful and delicious - you have to try the pancakes!! We had a slight issue with one of the toilets in one our rooms, but it was seen to immediately. Brendon booked our taxi's for us, advised us of things to see and do and literally could not have been more helpful! All of us thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can't fault a single thing - in fact, the hotel was one of the highlights...along with all the lovely men at the Rugby 7s... We were unimpressed with Cork as a whole. However, if it meant visiting Audley House, we'd brave the city again...
