Description: We are a traditional Irish pub named after the famous Oliver Plunkett street in Cork City. Famous for the atmosphere built on music and dance that has long been a sweet spot for many looking for a great night out. The Oliver Plunkett has the warm hearted feeling of bringing you in at different times of the day for food, drink and a good catch up with friends. Between drinks, take the time to appreciate the quirky historical and current facts about Cork and its history which are dotted throughout The Oliver Plunkett. The walls and ceilings are lined with a collection of old pictures and photos, as well as Irish quotes and other interesting references. The pictures and paintings range from Michael Collins to John F. Kennedy’s visit to Cork in the 60′s, to Rory Gallagher, Tom Barry and Johnny Rotten to name a few. The Pub is full with lines of poems, songs and old Irish so that everywhere you sit in the bar there are interesting things to look at or read.

If you have no idea where to begin your night out in Cork city, then you could do a lot worse then beginning with the Oliver Plunkett on Oliver Plunkett Street. It is a spacious bar which will provide you with the usual bar service, cocktails and food. Service is fine, just make sure they know you exist and you will be looked after.
If you get tired of the Oliver Plunkett, don't worry, there are plenty more hosteries in the immediate vicinity such as;
The Glandore Bar
The Old oak
The Long Valley
Counihans
Souths (in the Imperial Hotel)
etc.

Enjoy

Thank Bryno

We visited twice during our trip to Cork and both lunches were fine.
The lunch is served from a bar downstairs, but there is plenty of seating on the first floor with views over the street. We had sandwiches, soup and a hot baguette which all came with crisps. There was a good choice of fillings and also hot meals which all looked nice. There was also a wide choice of cakes and desserts on the bar.
This pub was lively in the evenings and seemed to have live music on most nights.
A nice pub with a lively atmosphere!
