Food was lovely, but shame about the old people that work there! They were extremely rude and did not have very good personal skills. Due to this rudeness, I will not be visiting again.

This place is great for grabbing a bite on the run, the fish is so fresh, they batter it while you wait, fresh local fish, real chips served with mussy peas and a slice of lemon... well worth trying out :-)

The fresh fish and chips and peas from this understated Fish Hatch are one of the best in Cork city. The fish is cooked right while you wait, and it has a very light batter. There is a great choice of fish, and it is just so, so fresh it is unbelievable. The chips are also cooked to perfection. A very reasonable price also. Don't miss out on a real treat.

Having read the reviews I was expecting great things, but had to wait for both fish and chips, both where undercooked when they arrived, making the chips crunchy on the inside and not crispy at all. Fish was a little better, but could have done with a couple more minutes in the fryer, as batter was soggy and stuck to the chips instead of being crispy and staying on the fish. Had much better fish as chips in other places in Ireland

We stumbled across the Fish Hatch as we had recently arrived in Cork and looking for a suitable place to eat were drawn to the prospect of cod and chips. Expecting the fish and chips to be wrapped in paper we were surprised to be given a box containing a cone of freshly cooked chips, a tub of peas and mayo together with three large pieces of cod that had been cooked to order - not to mention the lemon wedge. The fish was lightly battered, succulent and flakey and very tasty. The whole meal was €8.50 each, and provided good value in both quality and quantity. My recommendation - check it out, if you enjoy fish you will not be disappointed!
