Owner description: University College Cork is one of Ireland’s most prestigious universities. It boasts a vibrant, modern campus with a student experience second to none in Ireland. A learning community where the student is at the heart of everything and the special relationship between student and lecturer is primary to our unique ethos. The campus is located a mere ten minutes walk from the heart of Cork city, a former European Capital of Culture. Cork is listed as a top ten location in the Lonely Planet guide which states it “has always had an unshakeable self-confidence and innate sense of pride”, a description which is equally applicable to the University itself

We took a leisurely stroll through the grounds on a recent visit to Cork. It was very peaceful as it was a Sunday! The walk brought us down to the River Lee and into Fitzgerald Park.
There is a nice mixture of old stone buildings and several modern buildings. The walk can be as long as you like as there are several maps along the route.
Definitly to be recommended!

University College Cork well worth a visit. The Honan Chapel on the site is a Hiberno Romanesque Chapel built on style of Romanesque in early 1920's. It is a gem of a chapel with delightful Stained Glass windows by the famous stained glass artist Harry Clarke. The actual Quad of the University with stone corridor quite unique. And the award winning designed Glucksman Gallery, by the Architects O'Donnell & Twomey another on site build to add to the itinerary. This is just an opening, I could say lots more, do visit .
