My wife and I stayed one night at this hotel on a voucher in early April 2018. Overall, the hotel was lovely and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The biggest criticism I have was the lack of a formal dining room for our evening meal. We were forced to have our dinner in an overcrowded bar which took from the dining experience. As stated, the bar was mobbed and getting barman's attention to order a drink was an impossibility. I overcame this by watching the regulars who stand at the gap in the bar (onto the main floor) where the bar person has to pass you.
Breakfast was a disaster. I had my meal eaten before my wife got hers (after a long wait). To exacerbate matters, her meal had gone cold before she eventually got the toast for her poached eggs, both of which remained untouched when we left. Breakfast isn't a big deal for us so we struggled on.
In the interest of ending on a positive, the hotel and staff are lovely. If you don't mind eating your meal in a very crowded bar, this is the place for you.
