Where do I start ?I found the Old Ground Hotel EXCELLENT to deal with when we had the recent 50th reunion of Old Ennis Boys National School class of 1967/1969 recently on Sat Oct 6th 2018 .
From the initial contact back in April with Phil Spellissy to the final date Oct 6 , Phil guided us step by step along the way to ensure we had a very enjoyable evening I have to say thank you Phil and all of the 52 people who attended complimented you on this .
Next to the staff on the night in the Maguire Suite again a Thank you you to The Manager, The Waiters , the Barmen and of course the Night Porter It was such a enjoyable night we all lost track of time .The service, the Food the attention to detail was 100 per cent excellent and when we are organizing the 60th reunion there will only be one Hotel to contact thats the Old Ground
Thank you again and keep up the Excellent work

I put the WiFi comment in the title as that is an amenity that has rapidly become a necessity, and it is unheard of in this day and age - let alone in Ireland which prides itself on its tech savvy population and skill - to have it not working in every single room in this lovely hotel. I still gave the property four stars as I was able to stay connected in the lobby. People want to post pictures of their trip, read up on the next day's sights, check out the local restaurant reviews, and maybe stay on top of things happening back home even while on vacation, etc. Enough of this rant.

The rooms were spacious and well appointed, even having a US outlet for charging without an adapter. Staff was very friendly and helpful. On site dining was very good, and the provided breakfast options, also very good. The pub had some very good local musicians for entertainment, just as you'd expect in Ireland.

This hotel was part of a tour group's accommodations (and three other tour groups were there while we stayed). It feels private, rooms were quiet, yet you were easily able to walk anywhere in Ennis.

There is no WiFi at this facility. Don’t misunderstand, there is supposed to be WiFi, but it isn’t secured so everyone within signal range eats up the bandwidth. I couldn’t even get to a website to do a speed test. I couldn’t listen to a podcast.

If you’re in the neighborhood, just select the SSID named after the hotel and enjoy the free, albeit slower than LTE or 3G signal.

The coffee, tea and accoutrements were hidden deep inside a dark bureau so call the front desk to have someone come and unearth them. There is no refrigerator in the room.

The binder with instructions and local amenities is out of date and in need of a refresh. If you’d like to order a dessert through room service, look at the menu, but there are no real menus in the room only a listing of what management would like you to be able to order from room service that includes no desserts, only the cryptic comment to look at the menu. Hmmmmm.

On a positive note, the room was clean and well appointed. The room even had an electrical outlet that didn’t require a converter for U.S. devices. The staff are lovely, warm and welcoming. If someone could take a fresh look at everything else (like perhaps explaining where things are hidden in the binder, and bringing the WiFi up to current standards) it would complement the facility and staff.

Hotel rich in history, great lobby and comfortable and clean room. Great sights and shops and pubs in walking distance and the onsite restaurant is amazing!! Food was great for dinner and breakfast! Wish we could have stayed for more than one night!
