Attended this hotel for a conference. Facilities offered were excellent. Rooms were spacious an clean although a bit dated. Food provided throughout my stay was very good quality. The staff were friendly and attentive

Room Tip: Ask for a seaside view

Stayed here for two nights B & B . The location is great, near the beach and shops but that is as food as it gets. The room was quite clean but tired looking. There was only one double plug point in the room and one of them wasn't working so if you were needing anything charged, forget it. The door to the room had to be lifted before it would open or close, reported this on the first day but was not fixed. The breakfast the first morning was fine but the second morning the full breakfast was a little cold. The said they had parking but there are very limited spaces for the size of hotel and finding a space can bee difficult , plus there is a charge for parking. Would I stay here again, probably not.

Room Tip: Try a different hotel.

A fairly late booking for a twin room in this Ayr hotel. At £150 this fifth floor room was pretty small and the bathroom was no better than average. It became obvious when a guest opened up his room opposite us that the rooms to request here are the west facing rooms higher up which seem to have more space as well as the view ( across the Firth of Clyde to Arran and Alisa Craig). The view to the rear is of a multi-storey car park (although to be fair the views over that building are fine). There is also a pub to the rear of the building which was quite noisy on the Friday night we were at the hotel.
We didn’t get a chance to use the leisure facilities so can’t comment on that.
Breakfast was extra but good.
Beds quite firm.
Overall not great but not bad either. Just quite expensive for what it is. Could do with a bit of TLC and is scraping a 3 out 5 score-just. If there was a 2.5 score .......

Room Tip: Best view facing west on upper floors

Dear guest
Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent stay with us. I am sorry to hear that you were left feeling disappointed with room type you had picked. We have a wide selection of different room types throughout the hotel ranging from classic doubles to privilege rooms, family rooms and suites. Upgrades to these rooms cant be made at reception subject to availability

Thank you again and I hope we can welcome you back in the near future.

We decided to spend a few days away at Ayr. We always like to pick a hotel near the centre, and the Mercure Hotel fits the bill as its only a hundred yards from the main shopping area.. The staff was very good and helpful however the room was disappointing. It is obvious this hotel is in need of an up date as the furnishings is dark wood, The cleanliness could have been better as we had to ask for our room to be cleaned. Even then at no time during our stay was the carpets hovered. The area around the mirror in the bathroom was stained and marked ,again it had not been cleaned for a while. There was litter in the lift and it was still there three days latter.. It could be much better If the clearing had been properly done. How disappointing.
