Stayed here with my partner and our two kids.

The room we had boasted stunning views across the water and was clean, spacious and comfortable.

As a Scotsman living in England, I was particularly impressed with Breakfast! Linda and the team were willing to make whatever was asked and I made sure I made the most of it!

The hotel also offered a small bar, not overly stocked but enough in there to have some choice.

Overall a great hotel, in a great location.

I know I'll be back again!

The Somerset team visited again in May this year. A face missing but 9 people made their first visit. First time with children as well, but a family room was available with a cot. Linda as always was there to help and settle the new people in, what a difference with her. I remember previous managers!
Obviously redecorated since our last visit and the lounge area was ideal for us splitting into 2 groups. Bar was thriving and lots of varied people to get to know. She could not organise the weather but her knowledge of places to go and things to do kept the youngsters and older ones happy.
Recommend the Steam Train ride. Drives along Loch Ness and Glen Coe. Cable car up Anoch Mor is a bit pricey but on a clear day the views are stunning. Town is a nice stroll, 1.2 miles if I remember correctly.

Arrived with high hopes having booked a twin room for two nights in June. We had struggled to find accommodation for a biking event. No confirmation of booking or payment was received on booking. As a result we arrived at 10am to ask when we could check in and was allowed to check in early which was positive. Sadly things went downhill from there.

The room was fairy clean but had the following issues - No cold water came out of the basin or bath taps. This meant we had no drinking water in the room on what was a very hot week and we could not have a bath. The electrical sockets were not tight to the wall and did not look safe. There was also no ceiling light.

There was no information in the room so we did not know the time of check out or breakfast.

We went down for breakfast about 8am on the first morning. The breakfast food was frankly strange. A salad with tomatoes and olives??? no fruit or toaster. Sat for 20 minutes and no one came over to take our orders, despite there being only 2 others in the dinning room. Eventually got up and asked Linda (Manager) and was told that we hadn't ordered a breakfast (never told we had to) and if we wanted one it would take 20 minutes as it was cooked from scratch. How else would it be cooked Bunsen Burner?

On the second day Linda asked if we would move rooms to one with a double bed as she had some guests arrive that morning that needed the twin beds.We had paid £70 a night for a twin and it was not our fault Linda had overbooked. When I said we wouldn't move Linda did not speak to us again.

On the second morning breakfast had not improved. Linda continued to announce by what seemed by loudspeaker (her voice) that all the breakfasts were being freshly cooked and so there would be a delay of 20 minutes. Two other guests left as the wait was too long and others complained of the poor level of service. There was no service with a smile and our simple order of beans and egg on toast has to be checked 3 times by the cook.

We went into town on the first night and got back at 2am to find we had been locked out. No key was provided for the front door or notice given that it would be locked. As a result we had to climb in through the window as we did not want to spend the night in the car.

Overall for £70 a night the serve and accommodation was extremely poor. There are lots of other accommodation on this stretch of the loch so I would seriously considering looking elsewhere. It was like the staff were playing at running a hotel and had no idea what customers expect for £70 per night.
