The Hotel is located very well, right within walking distance of town. Upon check-in the staff were very friendly and helpful at reception and made us feel welcome. The rooms are tired but very clean. The first night we decided to eat in the hotel, we asked at the bar if we could eat in there and were quite rudely told by the woman serving in the bar that we would have to ask the restaurant staff, we were the only ones at the bar at this point and she made no attempt to find out for us, her attitude was not only rude but made us feel quite uncomfortable. We ended up in the restaurant and had a chaotic experience to say the least, the staff didn't really seem to have a clue what they were doing, our waiter, got the order wrong and was quite unapologetic and then we were left waiting for 20 minutes for our bill at the end of the meal. We noticed that we weren't the only ones having problems as saw two other tables where people had their food brought out late whilst others on their table had already finished their meal. The food though was the saving grace and was very very good! Breakfast was buffet style and again the food couldn't be faulted although once again the staff were dismissive and didn't make us feel welcome at all. Although tired this hotel is very clean and comfortable, the food is great but the biggest let down was the staff, if more effort was made to improve the hospitality this place would knock spots off every hotel in the area!

This hotel isn't the cheapest and in all honesty I struggle to see how they justify their tariff. Although the hotel is tired it is very well presented and clean, the thing that lets it down is the staff. With the exception of the reception team, they were at best aloof and at worst rude. I come from a hospitality background and know personally that your staff can make or break a business, a little investment in staff training would go a long way in ensuring your future success.

Hotel in perfect location right at railway station, and edge of shopping centre.could do with a wee update in places. Rooms very clean and warm. Staff very friendly and breakfast loads to choose from. Entertainment more suited to elderly people but ok. Lots of nice areas to relax in view from room right across the loch

Room Tip: Higher floors give better views

We were in Fort William for the day and were looking for somewhere to have lunch. We looked at a few pubs and restaurants, but nothing really appealed. We were passing the Alexandra Hotel and thought we would give it a try. The food was really good and affordable the service was really good. The restaurant was not busy but there were back packers and business people all having lunch.

Went with group on coach... The hotel is lovely from the outside and the first impression is very nice in the main part of the hotel. Our twin bedded room was extremely comfortable and had everything you needed but the bathroom could do with updating. Some very squeaky floorboards but expected in the hotel so old.. Some of the carpeting in the halls and stairs were a bit worn. Food was extremely nice especially the breakfast.

After having a nightmare experience with Shearings at the Caledonian Hotel - which is such a disgusting hovel we were unable to stay there (complaint gone in), we were left with nowhere to stay at 6pm on a Sunday night in a pretty full resort.

We managed to get two rooms here for the first 2 nights of our stay, and on learning of our predicament I cannot praise the staff enough. Sarah and the others on reception were absolutely superb, they even tried to find us other accommodation for the one night they were fully booked, and offered us use of their computer to enable us to find somewhere. They allowed us to store our luggage with them out of hours while we changed hotels, and we came back to stay again for the final two nights of our stay.

All the staff were amazing throughout, reception in particular, but also breakfast and dinner staff too, even the cleaners, they were all so friendly and helpful!

Breakfast was terrific, wide choice and service brill, and dinner too, the food was so good we ate there four nights out of five, reasonably priced too.

Rooms were spacious and comfortable, in fact "comfortable" sums up the whole experience here. Plus it's right in the middle of everything.

When I return to Fort William, which I will, I will certainly book here.
Thanks everyone for all your help, your service is just the best.
