Beautiful property with gardens and an amazing view. Perfectly situated for panoramic views of the the Firth and for beach walking. The house is immaculate, tastefully designed, well furnished, plenty of kitchen items for large groups and very comfortable. We had a family group of 7 people and had plenty of space to stretch out. Caroline was very helpful and very pleasant to communicate with for arrival necessities & minor details that arose during our stay (how do we turn on the heat? how does the stove work? what's the wi-fi code?).
Be advised though - you will want to stock up with groceries, etc as it is a bit of a drive down unpaved one lane roads and not conveniently located to any services. We were hoping for a pub or something within walking distance but there was nothing but cottages in the area (which was fine - we brought our own groceries, wine, etc). There are grocery stops within about a 15 minute drive but again, it is down a one lane winding dirt road until you reach the motorway.
There is NO Wi-Fi at this property so if you are traveling with kids who want to constantly be on their phones (we were!) or need to check your emails regularly,, be sure to have a good data plan on your mobile. It was actually nice to disconnect for a couple days.
No complaints at all about this property and our experience. We LOVED it and would love to return one day and spend more time just casually hanging out at the house soaking up the energy and peacefulness of it all. Definitely recommend!
Stayed here two nights for a family get together to celebrate my cousins engagement. Could not fault either the property nor Caroline and her husband what so ever! The house is fantastic and has all the amenities that anyone would need for a holiday and Caroline is just a phone call away if you have any problems what so ever! The house is in an absolutely stunning location with incredible views and was more than comfortable for 16 of us to stay in, incredibly spacious and perfect seating area in both the kitchen and the living room. Bedrooms are a very decent size and having an en suite in all of the upstairs bedrooms was incredible, especially when there were 16 of us all needing to get ready in the mornings! Would definitely stay here again for the next family gathering! Thank you so much for a wonderful weekend Caroline!
Our extended family (3 generations, with 10 members from age 6-75) stayed for too short a time in this wonderful house. There was lots of space for everyone to hang out as they pleased when we weren't actually doing something touristy around Inverness. It is across the Moray Firth from Inverness, so residents enjoy the night view of the lighted city. The house is located so close to the water that our grandchildren could practically roll down the driveway to get to the shore--where they practically lived. To everyone's delight, the Moray dolphins showed up for a command performance the first day we were there. The house was very clean and the grounds well-tended. The beds were quite comfortable, the rooms were large, and the living room and dining area were large enough to accommodate us all at once. Cooking utensils and dishware were adequate for a large group. Not being European or from the U.K., we were at first baffled by the washer/dryer, but we figured it out. And the owner was gracious about not having heard from us before we arrived, which must have complicated things for her. All worked out in the end, and we would be absolutely delighted if we could find another time to return. Note that if you enter Kilmuir in your satnav, you'll be directed somewhere else. Use North Kessock as your destination, but skip that exit and take the one marked for Kilmuir at the roundabout.
