“Unique Eperience”
Reviewed 14 March 2012

Well worth arranging a day out on either boat. The Waverley is preferred as it sets of on its 'doon the watter' cruises from the Sciene Park on the Quay on the soutside of the River Clyde. It is the last seagoing paddlesteamer and does cruises down theRiver Clyde to the islands off the west coat of Scotland and further to the port of Tighnabruich.
Check the programme dates and cruise itineries at the Glasgow Tourist Board office in George Square and plan a good day out. Try to pick a sunny day for views you wont believe - take your camera. You can pay on board but best to book tickets ahead.

“Doon The Watter”
Reviewed 2 March 2012

Providing the weather is ok this can be a great day out on a piece of Scottish History, as far as I am aware this is still the only sea going paddle steamer that is left, on board you can go below and see the wonderful engines working away and see the huge paddles cutting through the water. It also has a few bars on board so you can get fed and watered during your trip, Glaswegians will be used to the term "doon the watter" - just means down the river and was a common day out usually on public holidays, destinations doon the watter were normally the Ayrshire seaside towns such as Largs, Ayr or over to the islands such as Rothesay, Dunnon or further afield. I stressed the weather being part of it as some people may not like doing these trips in the rain but just getting on The Waverley may appeal to some folk- enjoyable.

“Waverley is the only sea going paddle steamer in the world”
Reviewed 20 February 2012

The excursions around the firth of Clyde and sailing to Arran offer a chance to sail to some of the most beautiful scenic places. There are often pipers to welcome Waverley to her destinations.. There is a reasonable selection of food and drinks and a trip downstairs to see the engine room is recommended. The Waverley has a friendly crew and a trip on her is a happy and enjoyable experience.

“Save the Waverley by enjoying a trip doon the watter!”
Reviewed 17 February 2012

An excellent day out for all the family. Fresh air and great views of the river Clyde with many people waving from the banks. Food is average but the experience is made special by being able to observe the Waverley engine at close quarters.
