“Quite good but.”

Govan Old Parish Church
Reviewed 8 June 2017 via mobile

The place was quite good, with a few interesting stones and what they call sarcophagus (not really). The tour guy was amazing super friendly and well informed.

You should be careful of the area though, as you will see a lot of junkies around.

Thank Vikram M

this is a nice place to visit to see old celtic stones.

sometimes there is a free tour of these ancient stones.

in the summer the govan ferry runs from nearby - across the river to the tall ship/ partick

We spent more than an hour wandering round the old church exploring the 31 monuments and the early medieval sculpture. Also the Viking hogback stones and the Govan Sarcophagus which is amazing.

The church is quite hidden, but not hard to find. However, you can walk past it and never notice. Anyway, the church itself really spacious and cozy. And it also has a collection of archeological stones. The church is near the subway station, so you don't need to walk hours to see it.

Home of the legendary hogbacks - a couple of which were borrowed by the British Museum in London for a recent exhibition. Stunning stained glass, rich in history. Tour guides are vounteers who have a wealth of knowledge- brilliant visit!
