Stayed here with my mam as we were visiting family. Got here to a nice reception which gave us a good first impression. Checked in and was shown how to get to our room on the top floor. Once we got beyond the reception, we were shocked at the state of the place. We got in the make shift lift which must of been a cupboard previously... Once we got to our landing we got into our room, the carpets on the landing were stained with god only knows what and were once upon a time a beige color.. I hope?... room was small, not much space to move around. After finally falling asleep we were awoken at 5am to a drunk guy trying to get into our room and shouting!! When I say trying to get into our room, I mean full force trying the door handle and barging and banging into the door as he must of been adamant that this was his room. This went on until 5:30am!!!!! The night porter who was sat at reception with a full view of the security cameras on a big plasma 'didnt' acknowledge this guy and therefore 2 females were to frightened to get up and go to the door. Next day after a long night we came onto our landing to see crumpled beer cans... Spoke to the manager on shift the next morning and made her aware, we dind'nt expect our £50 back, what we did expect was an apology and a reason as to why the night porter sat and watched this man try and get into our room for half an hour and did do nothing... her reply? why didnt you come down to reception last night to make us aware. LMAO yes, we should of left our room 5-5:30am, tell this guy to hang on 2 mins why we go down to reception to tell the night porter that someone is trying to get into our room. An absolute disgrace of a manager who was rude and un-apologetic. Shower only worked when the pressure was turned right down and dribbled out. No ironing board or iron in the room, had to go down to reception and get them and bring them back up to the top floor?????Maintenance man was also rude to my mam when told our shower did'nt work properly As you do. However, if there is one good thing in that hotel it was the receptionist, what a lovely women who is clearly stuck working for a bunch of loons! So if you want to feel safe whilst staying in a B&B, then avoid at all costs.

We had a very enjoyable one night stay at McLay's. The interior decor was a bit tired but the room and ensuite bathroom were clean, as was the linen.
The breakfast was good, though we didn't have the full Scottish breakfast, so we can't comment on that.
The staff were friendly and welcoming.
The location was ideal only being 2 minutes from Sauchiehall Street and a 20 minute walk from the Central Station.

Worst B&B room we have ever stayed in and the most run down hotel I've ever experienced .I should have taken heed of the negative reviews and stayed away. The room and en-suite were very basic and dirty and looked unhygienic and smelt foisty.
I don't expect 5 star accommodation for the money we paid but then again I don't expect a flea pit dog house that stinks.
This wee place needs an urgent Inspection visit and/or shut it down immediately.
Worst B&B room we have ever stayed in – there is budget and there is budget for the price we paid .I should have taken heed of the negative reviews and stayed away. This wee place needs an urgent Inspection visit.
Filthy, smelly, mouldy kept awake by a person snoring next door (paper-thin walls). Never again. So horrible I would not even contemplate going anywhere near the breakfast room!
The guest house states parking – what a joke!!!! – street parking only if you are lucky enough to find a space we drove round and round to find a parking space for over 30 mins and then had to park a good walk away from hotel not what you want to be doing when its taken nearly four hours to get there
Indifferent staff neither helpful nor professional. Could not wait to leave.
Avoid there are far nicer hotels on this street

We have just returned from a 2 night Fri/Sat night stay in a double en-suite room on the ground floor at the front of the building & were more than impressed for the price. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was recently refurbished & had a large bath with shower. We had fresh towels each day. The room was a good size with dressing table, good sized wardobe & bedside drawers & was impeccably clean. The breakfast was excellent, cereals, fresh fruit, yoghurts, croissants, pain au chocolat or pancakes, a scottish cooked breakfast, kippers or cooked eggs of choice, plus toast & marmalade/jams. And ground coffee or pots of tea plus a choice of fruit juices. We have stayed in Glasgow annually for the past 12 years or more at a range of b&b's & hotels & would definitely return to McLays. I can only assume the recent negative reviews relate to bedrooms awaiting refurbishment. Also the staff were friendly & helpful & particularly on the Sunday morning the service was 1st class in the dining room. Thank you to all concerned!
