“Good Location and Immaculate Rooms”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 February 2012

I stayed here for 2 nights mid week on business. Everything was as I would expect a Premier Inn to be within a central location. Clean room, TV, and an immaculate bathroom. There's a Costa Coffee next to reception, and a large restaurant on the first floor. No room service is available if there is a small number of staff on, which is a shame because this is a large hotel in a major city charging standard room rates. Premier Inns claim to be very cheap, and they are when you book off peak and dates that suit them. This is fine however, toothpaste, shower caps and small sundries should be complimentary if the room rates are uncompetitive. Free internet access should also be standard, not as much as £8 for a couple of hours, luckily I had an IPad so didn't need to buy wifi but every 5 minutes a pop up would appear on my screen offering their chargeable wifi. Breakfast had plenty of choice, and then they offer a meal deal at £22 for 3 courses and a drink. This is a small list of meals especially marked on the menu, so I would suggest a short walk to a local restaurant, one of many in Glasgow City. Their menu also specifies the calorific value of each meal, which steered me to the salmon salad! This hotel is a 5 minute walk from central station but don't ask the locals for directions, they have no idea where this hotel is. At the station, ask for the Hope Street exit, turn left and continue to walk until you see the Radisson, take a right up Argyle St and within 3/400 yards, you will see the Premier Inn. No parking here but you can set down directly outside the entrance in a two car layby.

Stayed here for 1 night room only at the bargain rate of £29. Great location for me (was at Dream Theater concert at SECC) 15 minute walk. Hotel staff excellent - allowed me to check in at 1030am rather than 2pm and also changed my twin room to a double without me even asking (a travelling mate couldn't attend at short notice) - this left a great first impression. Room was spacious (603), clean, quiet at night and everything worked (flatscreen tv/great shower/loads of hot water, tea/coffee and a bed that was BIG and so comfy. Nice bar and restaurant area on first floor - handy CostaCoffee cafe on ground floor. This is a total no smoking hotel which didn't bother me but if you're a chain smoker it may not suit you. Apart from this it was an excellent hotel/stay. Highly recommended. PS There's a Tesco right across the street and a great Weatherspoons 100yds towards Central Station - cheap breakfasts/food and drink (Sir John Moore). Note that most bars closed at Midnight (unlike Ireland), so you have to ask around for late night drinks (found a few on Bath Road/Street) and hooved it back to my hotel at 0245hrs - no hassle but a few dodgy characters about as area around rear of Central is a bit "colourful" to say the least ! Book this hotel with confidence - it was great, I'll never stay at a Travelodge again !! Norny.

This was the first time that I'd stayed at this PremierInn. The hotel staff were all very pleasant and helpful. Room was spacious enough, but I did find it cold and the heating/air con unit wasn't the most efficient at heating the space up.

Breakfast was fine, but puzzled that no bran based breakfast cereal. The coffee machine dispenses small and large coffees, both of which are too big for the mugs supplied, so they will overflow (but it's tasty coffee!) Choice of hot and cold items on the buffet.

Didn't have the car, so can't comment on parking. The hotel is located within walking distance of Central Station and the bus stop for the 500 Express service back to the airport (which is on Waterloo Street)

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are noisy due to air conditioning units on other surrounding buildings. Rooms on...

Not a bad price, £50.00 for one night and the overall cleanliness of the hotel was very good and on the whole the hotel is quite a good standard but the friendly staff are to be commended. But the air conditioning units sound like a Boeing 747’s whilst operating and the slightly warm air it kicks out from the centre of the unit is outweighed by the cold air filtered to stop the unit from "overheating" so it had to be switched it off (and yes I checked the operating instructions). It took till 4am for the small separate electric heater to bring the room to a comfortable temperature, I had to fold the duvet over to double the layer just to keep warm, a chilly January night in Glasgow which felt like minus 4, needs more than one small heater. Also I could not get any hot water from the taps on the evening and the toilet stopped flushing the next morning, the system just seemed to be constantly running but not filling up. I was placed on the front of the hotel on the main road so traffic noise was unavoidable but my during my last stay I was on the side but was also disturbed by a drunken passer by being arrested and carted away via ambulance at 3am so not a happy stay but not the hotels fault just the location.

Stayed here for one night for a gig at the SECC and a bit of shopping. For £29 a night you can;t beat it. Hotel was very central, clean, comfortable and the staff very friendly and helpful - can't fault it AT ALL
