Wasn't too sure about this trip after reading some reviews. We are in room 20 till Sunday and we are very satisfied with room. We (8 of us) dined this evening in the One Under Gastro Bar in the hotel and enjoyed every bit of the meal, starter, main and sweet all most enjoyable. Had read reports and was somewhat apprehensive however the meal was presented well, served well and was well tasty! Breakfast this morning was a bit of a marathon. Food tasty enough but service extremely slow. Very short of staff girls run off their feet.

My husband and I had a 5 star weekend at this stunning hotel right in the heart of St Andrews.
From the minute we were greeted in reception by Michaela to our departure it was excellent. Our suite was fabulous and overlooked the 18th hole, breakfast was table service and had all a good Scottish breakfast should have.
Would definitely recommend this hotel and look forward to returning next year.

Had a brilliant stay! Arrived early and straight away we we’re able to check in to our hotel room which was small but cosy and clean.. the first morning we discovered that the hot water didn’t work in our bathroom, we called reception and told them about the issue which they sent someone to resolve. The gentleman that arrived told us that he had reset the boiler and it should work if we ran the water through for a few mins. It didn’t work and upon leaving the hotel I mentioned it again at reception. When we arrived back after half an hour we went to check if it had been sorted and were told by the lead of front of house that because of the issue, we had been upgraded with apologies for the issue. We were upgraded to a fantastic suite and were looked after throughout our visit, the staff were great and kept catching up with us throughout our visit, checking that we were happy with our stay. Definitely recommend it as a great hotel to stay at while visit St Andrews.! Thank you to head of front house that made our stay so special! We’ll be back.

I can’t fault the staff, everyone was so helpful and friendly. This is what makes this hotel. The lobby, bar and restaurant areas are all lovely. Breakfast was fine, usual Macdonald menu. Service a little slow but food was good. Location of the hotel is great, so close to everything. Our room was disappointing, very small. It was a struggle to stay in for two nights. It also looked tired and in need of refurbishment. The room just didn’t match the standard of the rest of the hotel. For the price per night I would expect more.

I have stayed several times before dating back to the 1990's. Was very dated. Great staff. New remodel is a fantastic redo. Rooms large and modern. Restaurant overlooks Old Course and is excellent. If you golf is excellent alternative to OCH. Will stay again.

Room Tip: All are good, overlooking golf course are the best.
