The house is a great mix of old and new. The furnishings are high quality (and looked better than in the photos which were good anyway) and the house felt very cosy. The rooms are spacious and well laid out. We were only two people but it sleeps up to 4 and even then, there would be plenty of room. There was plenty of information about the facilities in the house and while we ate out all the time, the kitchen and dining facilities were very nice and well stocked.
The house is in a great location - only a few minutes walk to the town centre and 10/15 minutes walk to the beach. The location is perfect as it is very close to the centre of St. Andrews and the shops, pubs, restaurants, historical sites, etc., and we walked everywhere. The beaches (East and West Sands) are also within easy walking distance and were fantastic places to walk despite the fact that it was cold and rainy while we were there! There were lots of people out and about and St. Andrews itself had a real buzz to it.
Our booking was last minute therefore we arranged it directly with the owner by telephone. She was extremely helpful and ensured that everything went smoothly.
At £150 per night, it was about £30 per night above what I would usually pay for this type of accommodation. However I did not grudge this as our overall experience was great.
