Arrived here on Fri 5th August after traveling all night to get to Scotland, hotel is literately a 5 min walk from Kirkcaldy train station (half & hour train ride to city centre of Edinburgh).
Arrived at reception around 11am but they told us check-in was usually 2pm, explained that we had been on a coach all night, they kindly let us check in early as room was ready already.
We had the family room which consisted of a double bed and a single bed. Room was lovely and clean, it came with iron, ironing board, trouser press, tv, hairdryer and tea and coffee facilities. Beds were lovely & comfy.
We went out after check-in to go and explore in Edinburgh and have some lunch etc. Came back to the hotel around 5pm as were extremely tired after traveling all night and couldn't be bothered to go out again so booked dinner for us in hotel around 8pm.
We came down around 6ish and had an irish coffee in the bar.
Staff were friendly.
Dinner was nice, i had the hickory chicken and it was cooked lovely. My friend had the spaghetti carbanara and they catered for my 7 year old son as he had chicken nuggets but didnt want chips so they swapped the chips for veg for him plus he had an ice cream after. Very good value for money.
We ended up crashing early after that.
Sat morn, we got up around 7am as we were headed towards Edinburgh zoo. Came down for breakfast around 8am, they had a lovely spread set out, all different juices, breakfast cereals, my lil boy was very happy there was coco pops lol. You can select a few things off the menu for a cooked breakfast, i had grilled sausages, bacon, scrambled egg and mushrooms with toast and coffee. Was lovely and fresh.
Reception was very helpful as they printed off a sheet with all the buses and times so we could work out how to get to Edinburgh Zoo. (Train to Haymarket..only 1 stop..then get the 100 bus to the zoo, takes you right outside). After zoo we went to Camera obscura world of illusions, its right near the entrance to the castle, took us awhile to find it. Fantastic place, lots of fun things to do and keeps you entertained for hours, kept my 7 year old boy throughly entertained.
After that we went to the Hard Rock Cafe for dinner.
We eventually got back to our hotel around 9.30pm, had an irish coffee again in the bar. One of the staff was lovely as she came out for a quick smoke break whilst i was outside smoking and she was chatting away and was friendly, gave me some tips of places to go etc.
Came back to our room and it had been cleaned again and our tea and coffee refilled.
Sunday morning, we came down around 9am and had some breakfast, again lovely and fresh. We checked out around 11am.
Our coach wasn't until 10pm so thank god Edinburgh bus station have lockers so was able to put my suitcase in one. £8 for 12 hours so not too bad. We then went on to Stirling to William Wallaces monument. Fantastic place! Definitely recommended, we paid to get in & its def worth it esp if you are a braveheart fan!
All in all i give the hotel 5/5 as it's in a quiet area, staff are friendly & helpful, clean rooms, food was lovely.
Hotel is good for value and made my 1st time to Scotland a lovely stay. I would stay here again yes as i have no negatives about this place.
