The Gilvenbank has been constantly providing good food in comfortable surroundings for years. The menu has always been good and definitely VFM. Never lets you down.

Arrived at 08 30 on a Sunday evening, sadly their is no food available after 08 00 on a Sunday. The rooms are ok but could've been warmer. Blinds in addition to curtains would've been a help to improve privacy. A tiny TV for a big room with limited channels was a bit of a disappointment.

Hadn't been here for several years despite being local so thought we'd try again.

Booked table and was welcomed by friendly staff. Observation was not many people in but a table set for around 30 people.
Shown to table and drinks ordered. Food order taken when drinks arrived. Food arrived quickly. It's Pub grub not fine dining and had no quibble with service quality or price.

What could be better?
With such a large area with mostly vacant tables why did we have to have a table right next to the group of 30 ladies attending a baby shower, and all chatting loudly and enjoying themselves? Didn't anyone think of a better arrangement of other diners?

Might be better to ask what size soft drinks people want and not just bring a pint size.

Would I go back? Possibly in the future but there are other local places I prefer for now.

Thank Bob C

I am a frequent visitor to the Gilvenbank and my husband and I see this as a place where you can't go wrong no matter what you have. The food is tasty and the service is always always prompt and friendly. We always joke that we are people who like to eat and run, personal best is 2 courses in 42 minutes haha! However equally for different occasions that you want to sit longer, staff never rush you. It can be a bit busy so best to call ahead to avoid disappointment.
