Been a few times and each time food has been very good. Had different choice each time and always left happy. Good selection of beers and wines as well. Staff are very friendly and helpful if stuck for what to choose.

I would recommend boking as it's always been busy when we have been for lunch or dinner.

The atmosphere was relaxed, friendly and helpful. Six of us, including two children had an excellent lunch with something for everyone. The menu was extensive and very tempting. Their burgers were exceptional and the fish pie was, I was told, "great'! Prices were reasonable and quality very good.
The staff could not have been better. From the moment we walked in they were welcoming and helpful. I'm so glad I booked ahead because it was very busy and I don't think a table for six could have been fixed for some time. It is bit out of the way and confused my Satnav but now that I know where it is I'll be back. There are delightful woodland walks round about and it is only 2km through the woods to the Falkirk Wheel. It is therefore an excellent nexus for an excellent, interesting day out. Well done

First off - extremely friendly place and very nice food so recommended from that perspective.

Restaurant has a Gluten Free menu - that's great too.

Except seconds before serving up the alleged Gluten Free meal (chosen from the gluten free menu) the chef realises that they cook their "gluten free" chips in the same in the same oil as all other food which is no good for someone with coeliac disease (surely the prime reason for offering a gluten free menu). Was nice but being offered a replacement salad instead of hand cooked chips, only seconds before serving the food is a bit poor.

So while I'd normally have been planning a return visit as the food and place and staff were all lovely, we will have to avoid I'm afraid.

Best not have, inevitably gluten contaminated, food on a gluten free menu. Either change the menu or cook separately.

Firstly can i say the staff couldn't have been more accommodating or helpful. The food however was moderate at best. The burger was dry and underseasoned, chips served in a ceramic flowpot which not only absorbed their heat but caused condensation that made them soggy. The concept of locally sourced products is excellent and the menu looks interesting. I think this could be great with just a bit more attention to detail and a few less gimmicks in presentation.
