Description: Monteiths prides itself on using great quality ingredients that are locally sourced where possible. Provenance is hugely important and we work closely with our suppliers to ensure that our food comes from farm, to plate as quickly as possible. Although we frequently change our menu to reflect the changing seasons we also have a range of specials including dry aged fillet steaks and chateaubriand available. There is also a selection of seasonal dishes from the sea including fresh Scottish lobster and oysters. We also serve a wide range of hand crafted cocktails, beers & wines from around the world. Whether you're looking for lunch, dinner or drinks Monteiths on the Royal Mile is a must.

Visited for dinner with husband and was pleasantly surprised. Really nice little place and the food was great (we both had steaks). The service was excellent, our server was so polite and happy. Will definately return. The only reason I didn't mark as a 5 was due to the steak knives being blunt - they need to get new ones.

My partner and I always make a point of visiting Monteith’s any time we’re in Edinburgh. It’s a hidden gem at the bottom of the Royal Mile. The cocktail menu is great but the staff will oblige and make something “off menu” to cater to your taste. If you’re peckish, try the haggis bonbons!

Had a lovely meal in a cosy setting. Small restaurant but portions were surprisingly decent and the cocktails great. Bit pricey but was a special occasion so wasn’t a major issue. Staff helpful and friendly.

We stumble upon this restaurant while walking through the old town. It's located down a path with an archway decorated with fairy lights. The restaurant has a very intimate feel and is dimmley lit. The food here was full of flavour. I enjoyed every mouthful. The staff are nice and friendly.

Tried steaks at Monteiths, exact same order of medium rare, one of them arrived medium, the other more towards medium well. One of them was extremely overseasoned to the point of being almost inedible, the other one was only slightly overseasoned. A restaurant that prides itself in its steaks should not show this kind of inconsistency. The sauces were nice, as were the triple cooked chips. Cosy ambience, although really too dark for lunch because of the underground setting. Overall, there are much better steak houses in Edinburgh, you can safely skip this one.
