Tried steaks at Monteiths, exact same order of medium rare, one of them arrived medium, the other more towards medium well. One of them was extremely overseasoned to the point of being almost inedible, the other one was only slightly overseasoned. A restaurant that prides itself in its steaks should not show this kind of inconsistency. The sauces were nice, as were the triple cooked chips. Cosy ambience, although really too dark for lunch because of the underground setting. Overall, there are much better steak houses in Edinburgh, you can safely skip this one.
