Came here on a Saturday night with a friend. It was an impromptu, unscheduled visit as he had been here before. We knew we wanted sushi/Japanese food but everywhere else was charging £20-£30 for a starter, meal and a drink.

Arrived and despite the restaurant being full and buzzing, we were greeted and seated quickly at a table nearby the entrance. It was a little cramped but we were OK with that.

We both ordered, sharing the Kataifi Black cod and some vegetable dumplings. The black cod dish was unbelievable. The pastry/batter they use is similar to that found on the Middle Eastern sweet baklava (depending on where you get it from). So delicious.

We then both ordered mains - I got the Black cod katsu - and were again both very happy with our choices.

Service was quick and polite despite the place being very busy. And, to top it off, we left having spent around £12 and both very full and content.

Will be back.

Enjoyed a post film dinner. Tempura was light, crunchy and pretty perfect - the pick of the dishes. I had eel and my partner had the sizzling chicken. We took our own bottles of beer which was handy.

We had booked but the booking somehow got lost, probably didn't help we were running late. It was also pretty crowded with a large group which made it very loud.

I'm glad to see this place do well in an area with a fairly high turnover of restaurants, it gets busy at lunch and at other times offers a quiet place to relax with a pot of green tea. Near miss today though when the waiter was unable to recommend specific sashimi and sure enough: it wasn't fresh and was prepared poorly with some bones. Maybe supplies were low after the busy lunch.

Still, excellent value, nobody's perfect and this place has a knack for being great when you really need it. I hope they keep their eyes open and maintain their usually high standards.
