We stayed 6 nights and we really enjoyed our stay. The staff at the reception desk was very welcoming. We had a room on 2nd floor and it was very quiet although there was noise sometimes from the alley at the rear of the hotel our windows were facing.
We had a luxury double room : it was spacious and had plenty of light due to large windows. We had a large screen tv, Ipod docking station, kettle and coffee tray. Our sheets were changed everyday and the towels were fluffy and soft.
We would have wished more space to store our things, we only had one wardrobe without any shelf in it and we partly emptied the only cabinet available to use two shelves. The weirdest thing was the "lighting board" : a combination of light buttons that could either light up or switch off the whole room and bathroom, but none of them separately... which was very awkward when one wants to go to the bathroom at night without banging into the walls or waking the roommate.
We had chosen a formula with breakfast included and breakfast menu was quite decent, we always took it in the restaurant room. We didn't have the opportunity to test the restaurant nor the bar which was very crowdy and noisy on week-end nights.
The location was perfect and very central, close to the shops, the restaurants and everything in town. The bus from the airport (diverted during the tram works) dropped us almost in front of the building and most of the buses in the city have stops within walking distance. Even the train station is not far from there. We would definitely go back on our next trip to Edinburgh.
