First time at Mchael Neave and not disappointed! Scallops were excellent, my main cours of venison was the best I have ever tasted, beautiful presentation and excellent flavours. I has the sticky toffee soufflé and again excellent.

Service was good and atmosphere excellent, have tried most Edinburgh restaurants and would definitely return!

Head to this place for their lunchtime set menu and you're guaranteed a delicious, very reasonably provide, fine dinning experience. Lots of dishes to choose from and the wine starts at only £20 a bottle.

Just had my second visit to this restaurant, and experience just as good as the first. The atmosphere and location is just perfect for meeting friends for Saturday lunch and the fixed price menu offers a number of delicious options. On this occasion I enjoyed a delicate sea bream starter, followed by a very tasty steak hache and then a light but unctuous sticky toffee pudding, and everything was really enjoyable and so beautifully presented. Wine list offers a wide selection, including a couple of decent low price bottles. The staff are welcoming and attentive and nothing is rushed - giving my friends and I lots of time to chat. What more could I have asked for? I'll be back!

Enjoyed a leisurely lunch on Tuesday, not quite as memorable as a couple of other establishments we visited whilst in Edinburgh, but that's me perhaps being a bit critical. Thought the scallop starter was a joy though.

We tried to book before we arrived in Edinburgh but the web site said they were full. Walked past just to see where it was and went in on speck. They had a table straight away. The staff were most attentive and the atmosphere relaxed but professional. The food arrived at a gentle pace, no long waits but not hurried either. the Carpaccio of pigeon and the lobster & crab ravioli were tasty starters. The mains were equally well executed. All this washed down with a great bottle of red at a good price.
