We weren't sure what to expect of newly opened Rabble, the taphouse and grill owned by Montpelier's of Edinburgh however we booked for dinner on Saturday and went along with an open mind.
In summary, we both left feeling that on many levels it had been faultless. The service was polite, friendly and efficient, there was a good vibe and energy, the food came exactly as billed by the menu and the wine did too.
That said, why have I not given Rabble 5 stars?
Truthfully I'm not sure other than that having agreed we couldn't really fault it, we were also agreed that we wouldn't be in a hurry to return. We can't quite put our finger on why this is but perhaps it's because Rabble has something of a 'formula feel' to it. No bad thing in and of itself but maybe we were looking for something that felt just a touch more personal.
My recommendation is that if you're happy to dine in a busy bar/restaurant environment, give it a go and see for yourself.More
