Recently stayed in a one- bedroom suite and the temperatures were warm in Edinburgh for May ( up to 22 degrees Celsius outside) but the room gets incredibly hot and muggy inside. The staff maintain it is because I was on the fifth floor -apparently first 3 floors don’t get as hot and on that particular side of the building ( #05) the sun beams in through this glass building . This creates a “sauna” feel in the room. No amount of opening the windows helped although there is a cooling fan , which did not cool the space enough . Apparently, the staff said this is a converted apartment residence as nearly all Marriott actual hotels have temperature- controlled air conditioning . It was the only low point of this hotel so probably a great winter hotel ...but just way too warm for comfort in summer weather . Pretty good location though , friendly staff , very decent and plentiful hot/cold breakfast are the pluses. Starbucks in the adjacent building and a local grocer Sainsbury were very close and convenient .

Pros: -Walking distance to Old Town attractions
- Nice breakfast included in stay
-Comfortable bed and pillows
-Large nice towels

Cons: -Marginally friendly or helpful staff
- Room was not super clean - especially the bathroom floor!
- Put dirty towels from the floor back on our towel bar. They ran out of towels and weren’t sure when new ones were coming in. They did give us new extra hand towels.
- Wi-Fi was really slow and often it was hard to connect.

We would not stay here again.

Stayed at the property for the third time. We enjoy it with comfort and generally get good value for money, though this time we had to pay a higher rate. Friendly staff, particularly good for families. Located next to the Meadows for a pleasant walk (if the weather is good), a 5 minutes walk to the Royal Mile, 15 minutes to Princes Street

Arrived at the hotel off an early flight not expecting our room to be ready but it was and we were also upgraded which was nice as it was my husband birthday . The rooms were very modern and suited our needs . Breakfast was sufficient with a lot of breads cheese ham and pastries plus a cooked breakfast if desired. Staff were helpful and friendly . The most important thing was it was close to the city 5 minutes to the grass market area

We stayed here for five nights. We needed to be close to the University and so we chose this hotel. We were not disappointed. The location is perfect, within walking distance from all the sights in this wonderful city. The University is a short walk (no more than ten minutes). The room was very spacious and well equipped. Clean and taken good care of. The staff were always helpful and knowledgeable. There is a complimentary laundry for guest use (including soap) which was very convenient. The breakfast is included in the price and was lovely. The only fallback was the internet. We were on the second floor and it was slow and frustrating. We spoke to the staff and although they said they would report, we didn’t see an improvement throughout our stay. It’s a shame because you would expect a hotel of this caliber to provide top internet service. I still am rating it a full five points because it is a great place to stay.
