I cannot say enough good about The Balmoral Hotel. Located just north of the Royal Mile, it boasts romantic views of Edinburgh Castle and Old Town, and the Balmoral clock tower is visible from nearly any point in the city, making it easy to navigate back to our room after a long day of sightseeing on foot. We arrived early in the morning, and Marta at reception made sure our luggage was safely stored and called us the moment our room was ready, leaving us time to get a cup of coffee and a quick leg stretch along the Royal Mile. By 11 the room was ready, and we were able to shower and rest before hitting the town again.
Our room was large and very comfortable, with our every need met. I was especially pleased with the large bathroom with deep tub and towel warming bar. We spent many late evenings watching the skyline from our windows.
The breakfast is superb, so make sure it is included in your rate. Ask about a castle-view room, if it is available, and make sure you make a reservation for afternoon tea in the Palm Court - it is the height of luxury and comfort after tempestuous Edinburgh weather or long travel - and it’s absolutely delicious!
This was our first stay in Edinburgh, and you can bet we will be staying st the Balmoral on our next.More
