We celebrated our wedding at The Balmoral Hotel and I can't quite put in to words how wonderful it was. Everything went like clockwork because the hotel staff organised it so well. The reception rooms (Annan for pre and post dinner drinks and Beauly Suite for meal) are beautiful as are the other areas of the hotel. The food and wine were delicious and the waiting staff were excellent and very professional. We actually got married at the Castle and the Concierge did a great job of organising the transport for guests. The event staff were brilliant and nothing at all was too much trouble for them (even sourced Tiffany Blue ribbon for the chair bows!). Big thanks to Elizabeth Bell for looking after us and making sure we had the best day ever!
I would highly recommend this hotel for your wedding, considering the level of service you get for your moeny, it's a bargain.

We have stayed at some nice hotels, some costing a lot more, but The Balmoral Hotel is by far the best. We travelled with our 10 month old daughter and they were incredibly accomodating, even bring a toy box to our room which was much appreciated by our daughter who had been travelling for three weeks with only the same four toys. This was on top of the cot, baby bath, teddy bear, bath duckie, bottle warmer, bottle sterilliser, nappies and change mat. We both used their Spa getting massages which was great, and the pool area was AMAZING. They gave us a late check out (so my husband could watch the footy live from Australia). The room was so spacious (over twice a normal hotel room) with a very lovely soft bed. The only negative was our windows face the middle of the building so the view wasn't great. We will definately be back again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the outside.

Enjoyable hotel , great service but pricey due to tourist hot spot. Very central to all things Edinburgh.

Stayed for 5 nights and had a good experience, no major issues. The room was large and clean, bathroom was clean and had a large bath with over bath shower. Room decor was very plain - thought for a 5 star it would be better.

Location was awesome. Right on princess street. Noise wasn't bad, but could hear the street every now and then.

Overall it is a good hotel, but would have expected a bit more from a 5 star.

Im always bordering on cringing evertime i think about the standard of some Scottish service with a take it or leave is attitude while owners seem oblivious to the short coming.
Not so at the Balmoral, we booked it for a special night and it is expensive but that said its inline with most European cities and from the doorman, to reception staff, bar staff, breakfast staff to cleaners Im confident that the level of service and friendliness shown It would rival any hotel in the world or certainly the ones Ive stayed at across Europe, North America and Canada.
The breakfast in the Hadrian Brasserie was first class and theres no wayyou could leave dissatisfied.
I wish some of that hospitality could be instilled in all front line public serving people!
