What a change! The refurbishment work has transformed the gallery. There is now a light, airy and open feel to the place and it really does mean seeing the place and the exhibits in a new light.
This is a highly entertaining way to learn a little about Scottish history. We did not set aside sufficient time to see all we wanted so will absolutely have to make a retune visit. We enjoyed the new style cafe where the food and drinks were really very good indeed.
Whoever is responsible for this terrace transformation deserves every congratulation.
Just one small niggle. The Galleries in the building all have names but these do not appear on the map of the building provided.

Well worth a visit by all interested in Scotland. Far more than a portrait gallery, it offers various Scottish 'statements'.
