We stayed here for two nights and enjoyed how close this hotel was to the main attractions in Edinburgh. Breakfast was not included in our rate. We parked at the nearby Princes Exchange (access on Riego St.) for £12 per night with the hotel validation. The free wifi was decent and consistent. Grassmarket and Edinburgh castle are a very short walk away. Overall a very nice stay.

Dear Hoppy

Thank you for sharing your experience with us.. I am delighted to read that you were impressed with the hotel, finding the central location convenient for all the tourist attraction you wanted to see while visiting the beautiful city of Edinburgh.

Edinburgh is a very compact city and as such parking is limited (however, this is great for getting around the city as a tourist). I am glad to hear that you were able to use fully secure car park nearby that costs £12 per day.The car park itself is just down the road and you get 20% off if staying at City hotel.

We are in a great location to explore everything Edinburgh has to offer 10 minutes to Edinburgh Castle & Royal Mile from our hotel.

We hope to welcome you back to the hotel in the future.

Kind Regards

Sunny Verma

We stayed here for one night. The room was comfortable and very clean. Be aware that there is no air conditioning so we had to open windows even in the autumn.
Wifi was rather slow, too. The location is walking distance to just about everything - castle, Grassmarket etc. but is in a rather quiet location off the beaten path. There was a small grocery store a block or so away so we could stock up for our drive the next day.

Dear Abqcat

Thanks for a reviewing your stay at Edinburgh City Hotel. I am pleased to read your review and of course delighted that overall you enjoyed your stay with us and location was convenient for you for all the tourist attraction you wanted to visit.

Unfortunately, because our hotel is a listed building we are not in a position to make the structural changes necessary to add air conditioning to all our rooms. Due to Safety regulation in UK, windows can only be opened to small degree but we do provide table fans in the room.

Our housekeeping team pride themselves on outstanding cleanliness levels and it is wonderful to hear this was appreciated by you.

We hope to see in near future at Edinburgh City Hotel.

It was nice to finally sleep in a large room and have a large bathroom. The tub was quite high, so someone with a disability would need to ask for an accessible bathroom. We did have trouble with the elevator and had to walk down 3 flights of stairs.

Found this hotel as rooms were running out all over Edinburgh. We stayed here at the end of a nine day visit to Scotland and wanted a little ‘luxury’ but not super luxe or super priced. The hotel is tucked in a quaint courtyard. Location is great. Right on the edge of the grass market area, and near the university. Easy walk to the castle, High Street etc and a stop on the city sightseeing bus a few blocks away. That said, it was still a quiet area. Staff was great, room was lovely and comfortable. We added the breakfast option. Food was passable but not amazing.

Nice hotel. Problem with stairs of aged person. Breakfast really nice and tasty.
No to far from center city and shops for people interested in shopping. Not far from Museum. Personnel OK and rooms OK too.

Room Tip: Quiet environment.

Dear dianecS2382DR,

Thank you for your feedback.

I am very disappointed to hear that you had some problems with the stairs. We do have a lift that services all floors and part from one floor there are no steps to any of the rooms.
We could have also allocated a room on the ground floor if we were aware of the issue.

It is nice to read that you found the rest of your stay very enjoyable and I do hope we can welcome you back in the future.

Kind Regards
