We have recently returned from a short break in Edinburgh stopping at the Apex City Hotel, we would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone. The staff were brilliant, very friendly and helpful in anything we required.Nothing was ever too much trouble. The bar staff were excellent in the way they served us, as were the staff in the reception area. They looked after us from the moment we arrived until the time we left, even when we were leaving nothing was too much for them. The room was fantastic, it was clean and well maintained. The in room service was excellent aswell. We could not fault any of the staff or the cleanliness and we will certainly be going back, especially as you were all treated by smiling happy faces that if one person didnt know an answer they got someone who knew. A big thank you to the staff and management of this hotel. One small drawback was the limited number of TV channels, butt if that was our only complaint I can certainly live with that. The location was also brilliant and had a view of the castle, looked lovely lit up on a night.10 out of 10 from us.

Room Tip: We had a view of the castle on the second floor, the superior rooms really are superior.

Couldnt have asked for a better location. Right on the Grassmarket, near to restaurants and bars and shops. Check in was friendly. I had a room on the second floor which was clean but much smaller than I expected. Probably paid more for the location rather than the room. Would stay here again.

Stayed here for two nights in March. If you're coming by car, once you've navigated the one way crazy streets of Edinburgh, you'll find yourself in a fantastic little location, right in the historic area of the Grassmarket.

Parking is about 50 meters up the road, at their sister hotel Apex International. It's a tight squeeze, and you may miss out (spots are limited).

Unfortunately I didn't get her name, but the girl on reception was so friendly and helpful...she helped to bring our bags in and up to our room. Room was nice & big, with a great big bathroom & shower. The bed was soooo comfortable, with a nice big tv on the wall. We also had a fantastic view of Edinburgh castle out of our window. They also provided free wi-fi as well.

Hotel is in a good location, walking distance to Edinburgh Castle, The Royal Mile, and Princes Street.

Ate in the restaurant/bar on the 2nd night. Food/service was good, but when we tried to organise room service later on, it all seemed a bit difficult.

Breakfast the next morning was nice, if not a bit overpriced from compared to other places we've been. We has the same girl for check out, and again her service was first class. Would definitely stay here again, when we're back in Edinburgh.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with Castle views, well worth it

I went directly to the Apex website and obtained a preferential deal on room rate through choosing advanced booking without the option for cancellation.
All staff were polite and attentive and were on hand to assist with any requests or enquiries, but not pushy.
We arrived early for check in and this was no problem, parking was affordable and close to the hotel. The view of the castle from our bedroom was stunning, as were the Elmis toiletries.
We were able to walk to all tourist attractions within the city and had a fabulous short break.
The food was exceptional and the restaurant spotless.
We would definately return on any trip to Edinburgh and reccommend all friends and family planning a similar trip to stay here

Room Tip: The swimming pool was located in the spa and gym complex two doors away at the Apex International Ho...

I stayed here for a week.

Reception: Friendly and knowledgeable.

Room: Large, bright, warm and spotless. There is free wifi in the room also.

Bathroom: Spotless.

Location: It is located in the Grassmarket region and is perfectly located to walk to the castle or generally stroll around Edinburgh. It is approximately 15 mins walk downhill to Princes street.

Directly across the road from the hotel, there are 3 good restaurants and a number of authentic pubs. There is also a little shop 2 mins walk away.

Food: We had breakfast and dinner in the hotel in a number of occaisions. At all times it was excellent and reasonably priced.

The staff went out of their way for all guests.

I would definitely stay here again, its an excellent hotel and reasonably priced.
