Best Western Plus Edinburgh City Centre Bruntsfield Hotel

The hotel is about a mile from Princes St and is pleasantly situated opposite a city centre park. Apparently there is a free Pitch & Putt course nearby (bring your own clubs and balls) but I haven't tried it yet.

The hotel appears to have been refurbished to a very good standard and it is warm and welcoming. The staff are also warm and welcoming and seem to be interested in your welfare.

The rooms are clean and spacious and reasonably well appointed. I like the idea of free WiFi but the reception in the bedrooms has been quite poor; it is excellent in the public spaces and in the beer garden but I like to Skype so this isn't always practical.

The restaurant food is good (especially the breakfasts) and it's not too expensive; a big plus is that they don't impose a tray charge for room service.

I've now stayed here at least 4 times in the last few months and I'll definitely be coming back. Please please improve your wifi signal so that I can skype and complete my work tasks more quickly.

The hotel was undergoing renovation when we stayed but we were not bothered by it in any way. Actually, hadn't the receptionist told us, we would have known that the renovation is still going on. Check in was easy with only one hick-up, they forgot to mention that our rate (purchased from the Best Western web site) did not include breakfast. Upon check out that caused a little misunderstanding when we noticed the charges. The problem was resolved when the front desk removed the charges.
The room we stayed in was charming, with a view of Edingburgh Castle! Everything was new, the bedding was nice and it included a Scotish wool blanket. :)
The location is decent, but it is a neighborhood rather than the city center, so you are not terribly close to tourist attractions. As I said though, you can see the Castle from your room and you can see Holyrood Park as you walk out the front hotel entrance. We walked to the Royal Mile and it took us about 15-20 minutes. Edingburgh is a city easy to walk and beautiful, so no big deal really.
I would recommend the Best Western Bruntsfield and would consider staying there again if we visit Edingburgh again!

Room Tip: If you need a room with wifi ask for it, our room only had cable Internet and we found that it didn...

I apologise that the cable internet access in your room was faulty on the day of your visit due to engineering works to install free WiFi internet access into all of our rooms.

Our room was wonderful. A large kind-sized bed in an extremely spacious and very well appointed room. My son had the adjoining room which was also vast. We decided to eat in the hotel as we were late arriving and what a great decison. The food and service was first class, equal to any five star restaurant. The bar was warm and friendly as was the attention of the reception staff. This hotel rates well beyond its four stars and its proximity to the city centre makes it a must for us next time we are in Edinburgh.

Room Tip: Our room was perfect and although it was at the front of the hotel with a bay facing onto the road...

Not too far from 'The Town' opposite a park. My room was spacious and well furnished and very comfortable bed, first time the alarm had to wake me in ages. Good food in the restaurant and breakfast was good too.

Overall very nice if maybe a bit pricey.

We arrived quite late on a Friday evening from Edinburgh airport (about 25 mins away), but the check in was easy and we managed to get parking at the hotel which was free - just needed a notice for the windscreen from reception.
We were on the 2nd floor and after a trip in the world's slowest lift, we explored our delightful room - plenly of space and generally very comfortable. We were in room 230 and the only gripe I would have is that we were right outside the corridor firedoors and could hear people coming and going as the doors banged. There was a bit of road noise in the morning, but we faced one of the quieter streets and generally not a problem.
We got down to the restaurant at 9:30pm to be told the kitchen was closed - we queried this as reception had indicasted they were open to 10pm...and they agreed that it was a Friday and so could serve us! The menu and food was all good as was the service. Breakfasts were good with a wide variety of cooked and continental offerings.
We walked down the hill to Princess Street which was pleasant but took about 30mins and we also walked back to the hotel from the Royal Mile on evening after dinner, which was also an easy walk, much of it through parks.
So all in all, a good stay in a good location without being in the heart of the city
