So pleased we found the Apex Hotel in Waterloo Place Edinburgh for our 5 nights stay in lovely Edinburgh !! - My Wife and I, were looking for a room that had room for the both of us and our big suitcases and small ones, where we could hang our things and spread out
our bits and pieces (tidily) on a good sized desk and good room in the bathroom for our toiletries & towels. We'd come from a very bad one night just before in a four-star "cell Block" room in a Haymarket Hotel and had really lost a precious day of our 6 nights stay in Edinburgh and to be able to find the Apex at waterloo was a "blessing"!!
We all know when we book hotels for longer stays the trepidation of "will we like it' ??
Well we loved the Apex Hotel, we were looking for that "base" to be able to go out and explore Edinburgh and surrounds and "thank goodness" the Apex was everything we were looking for. Our room gave us all the room we were wanting, we could open our suitcases without having to step over them. We could hang all we needed, there were two nice drawers for socks and jocks, the carpet was soft and calming, the three windows let in lovely light, the teamaking facility was at the right height, not on the bottom shelf and it was in a large cupboard so we didn't have to look at it from our bed.
The beds were excellent, we'd taken their 2nd last room with twin singles, which was just fine, their sheets and doona covers, pillow cases were so white and felt so luxurious. Small things but so important, bedside shelves/table of an adequate size, much bigger than what we'd had on our one bad expereience in Haymarket 4 star !!
Plenty of room on each side of the bed, so good to have even that. Our rooms' bathroom was excellent, a lovely long shelf, even a small cupboard to pop things in. Good mirrors, and excellent bath and then a large alcove for the shower. Room to move, just what we needed !! Our wall mounted TV was excellent and of a good size, we found so many channels and the reception on the ones we wanted was excellent. Good tip is to look for the "music" section and put on one's favourite music period and have it in the background, we found it "added" to our well-being whilst in our room, sound was very good !
Pardon our long description, for us this was so good, yes some little bits of our room were a little tired but hey, we weren't there to " nit-pick", we were in that room to enjoy it's lovely size and comfort. Our location was excellent, we felt it was in the best section away from very busy prince's street , buses and trams, retail etc to a little quieter yet only 5 - 10 minutes to the train station, the trip buses and local buses.
We had a look at it's indoor lovely swimming pool on the lower ground floor (?). We'd met a Lady coming up in the lift with a very red face, wearing a dressing gown, who told us she'd had a swim, then a hot sauna in the steam room and that she was now feeling so good after her long flight from the States!!
Thank you Apex Waterloo - we found you by chance, you had one room left on the 28th April and my Wife and I are so glad we managed to fall into your care and comfort, it made our travels around your beautiful City and countryside so much more and we loved coming "home" to your wonderful room for those five nights and six days
with you. Your room was such an important component of our Scottish adventures - Thank you to all at Apex Waterloo.
PS. Earl sits in our en-suite here in Australia to remind us of our other "home" in Edinburgh!

Room Tip: We had the 8th floor - reception will look after you (they're on the 5th floor) enjoy yr stay

This is a good standard hotel at a reasonable price.

Rooms are clean and spacious with all of the usual amenities one expects, although the bathroom could do with a bit more attention.

Hotel staff aren't as polished as in other hotels of a similar standard but they are certainly efficient enough - perhaps not quite as friendly as I expect.

This is a good hotel at a great location. Nice large rooms, most comfortable bed and pillows on our entire trip. Staff helpful and nice. We totally enjoyed our stay here and recommend it. Easy walk to Waverly station and bus lines. Edinburgh is a beautiful city and this hotel is centrally located to everything.

Just as you'd expect from Apex - a very good place to stay. Location is good, very well-placed for all Edinburgh sights, sounds and tastes. A major building project is ongoing at the back of the Hotel - be aware, although in time this will be completed.

We found this hotel by searching trip advisor and saw the great reviews. It did not disappoint. The room was modern, clean, quiet and the amenities were a nice touch.. teas, cookies, popcorn etc. The beds were very comfortable and the location, just a short walk to everything. We have traveled a lot and stayed at many hotels and I would certainly recommend this one. The breakfast staff were super friendly. Great stay.
