Was looking for a place to hold a conference near Edinburgh and found this gem.
They have packages to suite all sizes of meetings with residential deals available.
From the first contact with Gean they were professional and insured what they offered met our requirements.
We held a two day conference with an overnight stay. From our arrival check in to our leaving nothing was to much trouble. Conference facilities were excellent with breaks and lunches arranged when they were wanted short notice changes were also accomidated with a reply of no problem.

Rooms were all individual and comfortable with excellent WiFi. They have rooms in main house which is just something special. Open fire places with comfortable chairs and sofas to relax. It also has a small well stocked bar.
I must say one of the things that sets Gean above the rest is its catering Head Chef Gordon Guthrie of Escoffier’s Catering. He and his team ensured that we looked forward to lunch and a Dinner at night. The buffet hot lunch catered for everyone’s dietary needs and we had some strange ones. The dinner at night was a three course delight. The personal touch was always there with Gordon always ensuring that we were enjoying the food.

Away from the conference side of it that was first class. The building and decor was wonderful. It has kept its originality and charm and the staff make it very welcoming. We will certainly be back.

A very enjoyable one night stay in this well kept secret. One for the old romantics. Stunning building steeped in history. Honest food with cooked to order breakfast. No complaints with this one. Friendly welcoming staff. Well done Gean house. Recommend.

Took advantage of their Christmas lunch one Sunday to finally see the venue for our daughter's wedding in July 2018, having been unable to attend any of the Wedding Open Evenings. A very warm welcome from all the staff.

Seated in a lovely room with Christmas tree and open fire to make our menu choices, and drinks brought to us. Quite a few other people there, all enjoying the ambience.

Had a lovely and very reasonably priced meal - only downside was the absence of whisky in the mayonnaise and no roast potatoes! The haggis bon bons were lovely, the turkey was beautifully cooked, the salted caramel cheesecake was delicious, as was the Christmas pudding apparently.

Once Billy and Francesca realised our daughter was getting married next summer, they were unbelievably helpful and let us have a good wander around the venue, seeing the bedrooms and function rooms and we were absolutely delighted. The chef, Gordon, came out for a chat as well.

Can't wait for the wedding next year!

I visited the Gean House recently for a function. The first thing I noticed was how it hasn't changed over the years. It is a beautiful example of Arts and Crafts architecture with pleasant furnishings and décor (if somewhat unimaginative) and comfortable bedrooms.

Unfortunately, my experience was discoloured by a “chef” who seems stifled in the kitchen by his own delusional celebrity status and who lingered around in the dining room longer than the odour from a pan full of fried garlic which, annoyingly, broke our conversation. If the food presented to us was of a high culinary standard showcasing imaginative Scottish flair I would still not expect any self respecting chef to bother his patrons in such a manner. Regrettably, we were served up nothing more than pedestrian offerings from a menu not dissimilar to a well known pub chain.

We had our Wedding here on 14th October & it could not have been more perfect. The venue was amazing and spotless, everything ran smoothly due to Francesca and her team of staff who were so helpful throughout the wedding planning process and throughout the day attending to myself, husband and our wedding guests. Thank again for such a perfect day!
