From the minute we arrived we knew we were going to enjoy our stay. The receptionist made us feel so welcome, and had no hesitstion in exchanging our red wine for a bottle of white that was in our room on arrival.
Great room, spacious and very clean,as was the entire hotel.
The bistro food was of very high standard,as was the breakfast.
We will return to this hotel in the near future as we could not fault anything with the hotel or the staff. THANK YOU FOR A WONDERFUL STAY.

Room Tip: I am sure every room is first class

We received a very warm welcome from this excellent family run hotel. Throughout our stay, all the staff were friendly and helpful without being intrusive, and conducted themselves in a professional manner which made us feel special. The room we had was lovely; bed on a mezzanine level with balcony, and 'living area' below also with balcony overlooking lawn. Spacious bathroom with 4 piece suite, jacuzzi bath and large fluffy towels. Everywhere was spotlessly clean; in our room (Abbotsford rm 10), in the dining area, the cosy lounge (which had a good selection of up to date magazines) and additional facilities of the hotel. Ample parking with a well lit and very classy approach to the hotel. We ate in the Bistro which was very good, and were suitable satisfied with the generous breakfast. We would recommend this hotel to anyone who would like to visit the Border Towns, for a walking holiday, peaceful retreat, or just a get away from the city.

After an all night flight and a grueling drive down from Glasgow airport to attend a wedding in Melrose, we couldn't have been happier on arrival at the Philipburn. The man on the front desk was very welcoming and helpful, answering questions, booking us a taxi, giving directions and even filling out the form to sign up for the Best Western reward program.

There is plenty of parking just up the pebbled driveway and the spacious room was modern and clean with crisp sheets and a modern bathroom with a nice view over the grounds, including the goldfish pond out front. There is no elevator which is no surprise in a smaller elegant hotels such as this but the front desk is more than happy to help you with your bags if you are one or two floors up.

There is a nice little reception room at the front of the hotel, a computer with internet and an excellent restaurant overlooking the back garden which features a giant chess set.
Breakfast was fabulous with a great selection of cereals, jams, buns and juices to start followed by a very friendly waitress taking down our made to order hot selection of eggs, bacon, sausage and more....

The location is very close to the picturesque center of Selkirk which is well worth the visit... but if you are not driving you will probably need a taxi or a good pair of walking shoes to tour the town.

An excellent stay and well recommended.

I stayed in one of the self catering lodges called Little Philipburn it was excellent. The lodge was very comfortable and beautifully furnished with two single beds and a very good kitchen. Superb flat screen TV. The only complaint was the table was barely big enough for one to eat at let alone two which is the number of people the place sleeps. I had friends staying in another lodge and we ate mostly in the hotel where the menu choice was very good and the food delicious. The owners were very pleasant and helpful. An excellent choice for anyone wishing to spend time in the Borders.

We stayed for weekend in October on a B & B basis. Room 2 was lovely, very clean, freshly decorated with large en suite. Double four posted bed very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent- plenty of choice. Ate in bistro both nights as menu was extensive and food cooked to perfection. Staff were very helpful. No complaints at all. Would stay again.
