Owner description: Castle Ward will take you on a journey of discovery. The 18th-century eccentric house with two distinctly different styles, classical and Gothic, will entice you to explore further. This truly beautiful 332-hectare (820-acre) walled demesne, with walking trails, exotic garden, stunning vistas and picturesque farmyard, will unlock your imagination through family history, leisure pursuits, events and industrial heritage. A children's pastimes centre and laundry room are a short walk from the house in the stableyard, alongside a gift shop, second-hand bookshop and tea-room.

The food wasnt great for the price of it. Decor is lovely and you can sit outside in the courtyard on a good day but I would rather bring a picnic.

A beautiful wooded estate on the shores of stunning Strangford Lough. Great for walking, mountain-biking and horse riding. Only 40 minutes from Belfast, a gem of a place.

I'm a regular visitor to Castleward, and have been since I moved to the area about 16 years ago. As a country park and stately home, it has something for everyone - dog walking, trail biking, running, adventure sports, historic buildings, cafe, gardens, gift shop, pre-owned book shop. There are also regular events at the property.

My only issue at the minute is the management of the fields - I'm aware that dogs shouldn't be in fields when cows/calves/bulls are in them, and signage is essential. However the signs are being left in place when there's no livestock in some of the fields, which will surely lead to visitors ignoring the signs.

Overall though, highly recommended.

Fabulous house and grounds and fascinating old fashioned games and experiences for children. Location is just lovely and there is lots to do and see.
