We’re lucky to live close by, so we’re here at least once a month. Most people park near Belfast Castle (really a very large turreted mansion). From here you can just potter around the castle & cat garden, go for walks through the surrounding woods, or spend 1.5 hours going up to the summit of Cave Hill and back. Most Saturdays there will be a wedding at the castle, so you’ll need to park along the approach road. All walking trails are easy to follow, nice scenery, and you can easily see Scotland from the top if it’s not too cloudy. There is also a small car park along the Upper Hightown Road that is closer to the top, reaching the summit from here only takes about 20 mins of significant uphill walking along a firm trail.
