Had a late breakfast here with two friends. The atmosphere is pleasant; it's light and airy and the staff are very attentive. We had three variations of poached eggs - I drew the short straw - poached eggs on avocado on wheaten bread. In fairness, it sounded like a great idea and it probably is but two wee tips. Hot eggs on warm wheaten with avocado straight from the fridge doesn't work - the avocado needs to be warmed, just up to room temp. Also, avocado needs a bit of help, a wee bit of salt and/or pepper or make it into guacamole.
My mates were very please with their eggs benedict and eggs on bacon on toast.

Huge good value menu. Not for those who have trouble with stairs however.

I discovered The Loft a couple of months ago, and since then it's become a regular haunt. William has the knack of serving up tasty, very well-presented food and snacks at an excellent price.

The Loft is located above the Cinnamon Indian restaurant in Dundonald, and has a homely, unfussy feel. The menu is very wide indeed: there's quite a range of paninis, sandwiches, baked potatoes, ciabattas - and for when only comfort food will do, fries, burgers, chicken gougons and so on. They've also started serving up a Sunday roast at an excellent price.

My favourite is the bacon, brie and cranberry panini. It always comes nicely presented with a side salad, pot of coleslaw and tortilla chips.

The Loft's good value food (you can get a filling lunch including a coffee or soft drink for a fiver or thereabouts) has drawn me back several times already and I look forward to becoming a frequent flier.
