My wife and I stayed here one night as we'd received a Virgin Experience gift voucher for a night in a hotel (almost all Innkeepers Lodges) and we decided to combine it with another voucher for a comedy night in Cardiff. The hotel only has a small car park so we ended up parking on the road just up from the hotel. The check in was quite slow as it took ages to check in a couple of people ahead of us.

Our room was quite small but reasonably comfortable, although the bathroom was quite large in comparison and we overlooked the road at the side of the hotel. The furniture and fittings did seem a little old and it could certainly do with a more modern refurbishment. It was a warm weekend and as the window was fixed shut, the room got quite stifling overnight with only a small desk fan in the room.

Breakfast the following morning was ok with a reasonable selection of items, although I did think the croissant I had tasted a bit stale. The hotel is well located in a quiet road about 15 mins walk from the main area in the centre of Cardiff. We didn't eat in the attached pub due to time constraints, but it did look to have a decent selection of meals.

We've stopped at an Innkeepers Lodge before. On the plus side this one had a good location. It had free parking albeit that the car park was not that large. The cooked breakfast was fine. Check in was friendly.
One of our rooms overlooked the car park. The windows were open. It was stiflingly hot. No fan provided despite the weather. We were glad we did not bring a cat- no room to swing it. Small shower room. Frayed carpet. Broken bin. Broken soap dispenser. Only one bedside table- no room for another. Furniture and decoration tired. Coffee awful even though it was the usual tubes of Nescafe. Because of the heat it was difficult to sleep. Woken up by bins being moved at 6 am, then a barrel drop after that.
It wasn't cheap and was not good value for money. Would not return to this hotel.

Hi this hotel is situated 20 minuets walk from the city centre 10 if you are under 60 years of age this hotel is ideal mid-week breaks week end breaks well anytime really the staff are pleasant the food is good and if you do not feel like walking in to Cardiff there are regular buses you can take and there are several local bars you can frequent all in all a great place to stay at a reasonable cost

Room Tip: if you are over sixty try and book a room on the lower floor

It was very clean with a comfy bed- staff were very friendly - it was a good location a £5 taxi fare from town centre.
The complimentary breakfast was excellent - lots of choice - cereal - fruit - croissants - muffins - toast etc
On the downside - no lift - window wouldn't open in bedroom although there was a fan it wasn't really adequate as it was a very humid night

I stayed here as from the reviews and pictures it looked nice. However I'm not sure how it was awarded 4* it's in need of a lot of modernising. Toilet system made noise all night constantly re filling, people outside smoking below our room made a lot of noise. When you used the hot tap on the sink it spat water every time due to air in system. The Lino in the bathroom was stained and dirty. The breakfast was a continental buffet, when I asked for a breakfast to be cooked at my added expense what I didn't mind paying for,I was told a lot of people had just come in and I would have to wait a long time. I couldn't believe what I was hearing surely a paying guest should get priority over someone who had walked in off the street.
