This castle is decorated in a similar way to Cardiff castle. It is only a small castle and only takes a short amount of time to see but is something you should visit while in Cardiff.

Love the fact it's buried in the mountains, awesome views!!
It's built on the remains of a 13th century castle for the 3rd Marquess of Bute in the early 1800's by William Burges, who also remodelled Cardiff Castle for the Bute

An excellently maintained and priced attraction. Castle was built by the Bute family in a fairy tale style with wonderful decorations within. A very imposing site when viewed from the A470 and M4, sitting among the trees, the walk up towards the castle from the car park is magical and really puts you in the mood for a magical experience.

Really good chance for older kids to get the feel of a fairytale castle and what living in one might be like! Rooms with painted furniture and murals on the walls give a 'just stepped out of Hans Christian Anderson' feel...good cafe too.

Castell Coch (Red castle) is a must see for anyone visiting Cardiff, absolutely beautiful. Surrounded by an amazing forest, and the view from inside the castle is just fantastic. Worth paying the admission fee of a small £3.50.
