I surprised my partner with a 2 night stay at St.David's this summer after our last trip was so wonderful! It was our anniversary and the staff really went to town in making it one to remember. I dealt with a fabulous man in guest relations who helped to make it extra special including; wine, chocolates, balloons, banner and a card in our room on arrival to congratulate us. The staff were extremely attentive for our entire stay and we had fabulous views from our room. I would definitely recommend and will be returning again very soon. Thank you St.David's!!

We stayed at the St Davids hotel for my husbands birthday. We booked the Junior Suite as we were child free for the night and wanted something special; we got given room number 420 The Afon Suite.
The hotel is situated in Cardiff Bay so is really close to lots of bars and restaurants so we opted not to eat in the hotel. We did use the bar for a few drinks after checking in as our room wasn't ready for us (we arrived at 3:05); the staff were great and gave us complimentary drinks vouchers without us suggesting it due to the need to wait for our room.
The room itself has a lovely view of the bay from both both balconies. The conservatory area built into the room ( set behind curtains) is a nice area to sit if it's a bit cold to sit outside. The bed was two singles put together so nice and spacious. We did use the coffee machine but not the to. The bathroom has a bath and separate shower plus the usual sink, toilet and bidet; it also has some art work on the wall which is a persons bottom which made us giggle a bit :)
The room was lovely but just slightly faded round the edges; carpet had a few stains, a badly repaired patch on the wall, table and chairs with chips. This is the only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5; a bit of TLC in the rooms and it would be amazing. Staff are great though and made the stay lovely.
I would book again and probably will for my birthday.

The hotel is getting a bit older now but the views make up for this. Stepping into the room was instantly relaxing and calming. Cardiff has some great hotels but none with a setting quite like this one. The Bay area is lively at night with plenty of choices for eating places and bars. The staff here are lovely and very welcoming.

Room Tip: Higher rooms are quieter

I am delighted that you had such a relaxing and calming stay with us, you are quite correct in saying that the hotel is getting "old", we do have plans in place to start major refurbishment works to the bedrooms and the Marine Spa later this year.
We do hope we will have the pleasure of staying with us again and do hope it is not too long before we welcome you back.

As Cardiff residents it's highly unlikely we would ever stay in the St Davids hotel but we very much enjoy using its very pleasant facilities. In particular for us on a sunny day there is no nicer place for a drink than the terrace with its lovely view over Cardiff Bay. Suitably uplifted my wife, mother in law and I decided to make an evening of it and have dinner in the pleasantly refurbished restaurant.

We weren't disappointed. Food was delicious and well presented. Starting with scallops, we moved on to yummy steaks (T bone and filet) and cod. All dishes nicely garnished. Service pleasant, attentive and unrushed so we decided to delay the onset of reality with tasty desserts. V pleasant wines. Sauvignon Blanc with the scallops - bought by the glass as - strangely - the cheapest bottle of white on the wine list was in excess of £40. Unlike the reds where bottles started at around £20 - we went for a v pleasant Rioja that perfectly complemented our steaks.

All in all a v pleasant evening - not cheap at c £200 with aperitifs and service - but far from unreasonable given the food choices and 5 star hotel environment. Only one slight niggle - the background music (mostly disco style on the loud side) seemed to us to be out of character given the sophisticated setting and diner demographic. A singer with keyboard struck up as we were leaving (c 8pm on a Saturday) which would have put paid to any chance of intimate conversation. Note to Management - I do think you need a re-think here.

But I guess the ultimate compliment is that we fully expect to return - and not just because of the Brownie points I got from my mother in law!

This hotel is so well situated. Really close to everything. The hotel is a five star but I would say more 4 star. The rooms were dated but that's ok as we paid less for the dated rooms as they are doing up the hotel rooms so once when it's all done it can go back to a five star. Our view from our bedroom was amazing so that made it really special. We even made use of the pool.
The restaurant has been updated already and it was a really lovely dining experience as the staff at this hotel are all just so lovely and friendly which made our stay in Cardiff lovely. The food in the restaurant was lovely too :-)
We got on the open top red bus which I recommend as it takes you all around Cardiff so if you only have a day or so this is well worth it.
