Booked a stay months ago, a few weeks later the boxing was announced and prices went crazy. Thought that it wouldn't affect our stay. So disappointed when we arrived and found various bits of the hotel roped off for boxing guests. We were shown to a dark and slightly shabby room with disabled call lines all over the place. Breakfast was buffet style and even though we were there at 8 o'clock it was cold. Really feel that because we paid the usual room rate and not the £500 plus others were paying that we were treated as very much second class citizens.

We stayed for a short break and couldn’t fault at all. Room was clean and comfortable with a stunning view of the city. Well stocked bar with a decent wine list. Breakfast was fantastic with an amazing selection of dishes suitable for a vegetarian. Staff were helpful and polite.

We booked a late deal a few days before arrival. You are able to check in from 3pm. On arrival we were offered an upgrade for £40, well worth it! Better room, free drinks and nibbles in a business class lounge, free movies etc. The hotel is as close as you could get to the centre. We were on the 14th floor and the views are amazing! I would definitely recommend. The only down falls I thought was the hotel was boiling hot during the night and the lighting isn’t the best in the rooms.

Another excellent stay at The Radisson Blu Cardiff, beautiful room, comfy and large bed, lovely bathroom, very clean, excellent location, outstanding breakfast, plenty of choice, very helpful and friendly staff.
Only 2 negative points:parking on site, a little bit pricey at £20 per night, a pint of bitter and a medium house wine - £12.50, this would not deter me from returning again.

As the title says the pipes are indeed calling, whether this phenomenon is located strictly on the third floor I can’t say, but you can hear when anyone nearby runs the hot water in their room.

It’s pretty loud, although thankfully it stopped at around 11, so I managed to sleep.

Aside from this the hotel rooms look slightly tired; either retro, or retro chic - I can’t tell. Either way some of the decor looks a bit 80’s (crystal door handles on the wardrobe).

Overall it’s a functional hotel in a good location, but just don’t expect it to be up to the usual Radisson Blu standard.
